I dont want to sound contrary to what illgetbi says, and this is just indicative of the whole exercise/dieting world, but I'd put more emphasis on your diet than your exercise. Simply put, a pear is 80 calories and takes about 3 minutes to eat? 80 calories takes about 20 minutes of walking to burn off. All the exercise in the world isn't going to work if a good dietary foundation isn't there to help.

Then moving onto exercise, I'd suggest doing the most high intensity exercise you can manage. do 10 minutes of jogging over half an hour of walking, because that gets your heart rate up into the higher levels, which ends up boosting your metabolic rate for X amount of time after the workout. Similarly, try and lift some weights. Muscle burns calories, so not only do you get the calories burned from the initial workout, but you're building up to once again, a higher metabolic rate. It will also help you with image stuff, because you'll notice you're getting ripped underneath whatever fat you want to lose, and it will make you even more eager to get rid of it.

Seems like you've thought this over, knows what it takes and are willing to do what it takes.

I'm rooting for you!:gogirl:(!):gogirl:

Smoking is extremely hard to quit, but if you can do it, it will be one of the best things you can do for yourself. Lung cancer is a fairly nasty way to leave this world. :(

Well, this might be some more conflicting information but I'll list what, has helped me.

Take Photos, it sounds vain but it really helps keep the motivation up. which is the hardest part IMO

Don't think of this as a diet, this is a lifestyle change, there is no going back to the old habits once you reach your target weight. From your first post it sounds like you know what you have to do. ..|

I personally don't like cardio machines. They are usually so boring that people dread using them. If you can fit in something that you like to do. Swimming is excellent, running if you can, even bicycle would be good. These offer enough of a change in scenery you are less likely to get bored. I prefer running but I am looking to get involved in surfing.

Weight training increases your metabolism, this will help you burn off the extra fat which you have accumulated. Start out lite, if you hurt yourself it is very discouraging. In this case slow and steady is the best course of action.

Goodluck with it, Ravenstar! keep us posted we are all rooting for you. (*8*)

Of course what you are saying here isn't wrong but a bit more information is needed to fully understand this statement.

Watch the following video at 1:11:20 for a good explanation. (The whole video is very good.)

I was going to put up a photo but I'm too embaressed. There is one from Friday night in the post a pic thread in the Daddy, Bears and Chaser forum if you're desperate to see this flabby gut without a shirt on.

Last time I Body Trim I dropped 20 kilos in a little over three months. I'm hoping for similiar numbers - in a similar time frame - this time.

Weight Bit:

16 stone 6.5 pounds
104.1 kilos
229 pounds

I thought I'd put it up in all measurements cause I know we have a variety of nations here.

Hey Ravenstar, I'm about two weeks behind you with very similar goals (cept I might space out the weight loss over a longer period of time). I did take the plunge with pix, and your situation's probably no worse. If you don't post them, at least take them because they are good for comparison, and good for planning purposes.

For instance, I discovered much to my horror that I've got some pretty weird love handle things going on. It's a gong show. It's not so much a spare tire, as a tire that's suffered a blow-out on the highway, and until the pix had no real idea that was going on back there.

But on the other hand, I learned a few good things too. Today I went for an hour bike ride, and the great part about getting fit is you get to hang with all the fit people doing their fitness stuff. So I'm cycling through Edmonton's river valley with all these fit people on the trails and I recognized something from the photo I had taken the other day: my shoulders aren't as narrow as I imagined. They need work, but some of the guys I saw who had a really good V shape going on don't actually have super broad shoulders, they just have incredibly tiny waists. I had never paid too much attention to that until the pix.

So, I definitely want to build my shoulders which I have always been too lazy to do because I always found my legs easier to work, but some effort on the shoulders and losing weight to bring my waist back into view will give me a much better balanced look. At my full height, I used to have a 31 inch waist (79 cm). I don't plan on getting quite that skinny again, but certainly I could drop down from 37 inches (!!!) and get a much better shape.

Oh, one other thing from my bike ride - I passed by these two guys in a park at the side of the trail just ripping off pushups like it was no problem. They easily hit 30 in just the time it took me to cycle past, and it looked like they were doing sets of them and would have no problem doing more. The problem was, I would have expected way bigger arms on guys that could do push-ups that easily, so that was a bit annoying.

Anyway, just wanted to check in and tell you you aren't the only one doing this, and try the pix even if you don't post them.

That's pretty amazing progress in under two months time. Keep doing your thing Raven! ..|

Ok so update time considering it's been a while. Weighed in this morning and I have lost in total 14 kilos. That's 2 stone or 30.8 pounds in old weights since I began this process. Tre' happy about that.

You know the weight is coming off when you can take a pair of jeans off without undoing them, specially as those jeans weren't able to be done up when I started lol.

Woh, how'd I miss this one? Congrats!
