Stating HIV status

It's possible, if perhaps not likely, that they're being honest there. There's a good chunk of gay guys out there who simply don't know their HIV status, since they haven't been tested (lately). And if the only two options are "positive" and "negative", leaving it blank may be the only way to say "no idea".

I'd say if you run into somebody who leaves their HIV status blank, and they interest you otherwise, just ask. And assume that everybody is positive - even those that click "negative" - and take the necessary precautions once you move into the bedroom, at least until proven otherwise. People can lie, people can be mistaken.

I had a friend who posted that he was HIV positive on one of those dating sites. He started getting harassing phone calls from someone he worked with because they came across his ad with his pic and HIV status. I told him to change the status to blank and he can discuss it with someone when they finally meet.

Unless you know someone very well, which is unlikely pursuing online hook-up ads, I wouldn't believe what they put anyway. If I was hooking up through an online ad, I'd play it safe regardless and not rely on what they put in their profile, or what they tell me to my face, is truth.

Sure, so long as they are also obligated to state what their yearly income and personal net worth are - I dont want no low life scum coming round and wanting what they cant have.

They should also be obligated to have their age and dick size independantly verified - cause too many lie.

Disclosure is a personal issue so they may leave that section blank but tell the person personally but Lex makes a valid point...just take the necessary precautions when 'playing' away
