So if I never do get with a guy. I want to be safe. And I was wondering what ate the risks of getting an STD when receiving / giving a bj
 
Hi Croft, you can give a bj with a condom. There are condoms with flavors (strawberry...) for this, have fun.
 
Supposedly, it's low risk, but not no risk.

It depends on what you're concerned about.

Probably the thing that is transmitted the most frequently via oral, especially in your age group, is gonorrhea and chlamydia.

There's also some concerns about HPV which puts you at risk for oral and throat cancer. If you haven't been immunized for HPV, this would be a good time to do so.

What everyone tends to worry about the most is HIV. For both partners, the risk for oral transmission of HIV is low but there have been a few documented cases of transmission to the person on the receiving end. Because oral transmission risk is low, it is probably not worth investing in PrEP, unless you plan to be on the receiving end of getting fucked, particularly if you fall into a higher risk group and are on the receiving end of anal.

There is no particular increase in risk from a cavity (although there are some really good reasons that you should get that fixed before it causes you bigger problems).

There are some theoretical risks about inflammation around the gums and open sores in the mouth but those are like those fears people have of getting STDs from toilet seats. Most people get STDs the old-fashioned way- sex, wet messy, body fluid exchange sex.

If it's an issue, the non-latex condoms don't have the unpleasant flavor and they're less likely to trigger allergic responses.
