yes use lots of lube and remember its not that far, only to the proximal interphalangeal joint or the second joint down from the tip of you index finger is the approximate distance for most people.

There are plenty of resources on this... search for milking the prostate.

Generally MUCH better when someone else does it for you though... a slow gentle rhythmic circular motion, once you get in there. Best to work the outside first so you really want that finger before you start. If not digging it and still determined, just find a good top.
 
This page has some videos purporting to show what stimulating your prostate is like. According to that pic it should be possible easily for any man to stimulate his own prostate with a finger. However I havent been able to find mine that way... What am I doing wrong?! :(

Only if you use a knife!!! Why would that of all things be fatal? You don't wanna poke it or tear it but kill you? I doubt it!! I have never felt around for mine on purpose. I have rarely masterbated using my ass that way but I have done it before and hit the spot. It does feel really good but I am so not a finger fan. No, stimulating your prostate will not kill you. Calm down.

Basically, lay on your back, insert your finger, with your palm facing up (toward the ceiling) and hook your finger upward until you feel something hard. If you're hitting it, it will probably make you feel like you have to pee, possibly also give you a hard-on.

I have trouble reaching mine, just because it's an awkward position for me. You might also try bending over a bit and insert your finger with your arm over you back, but then you can't hook your finger to touch your prostate, though you may be deep enough to just touch with yoru finger tip anyway.
 
No, I've heard of many weird deaths... but never by prostate stimulation. As stated, don't use a sharp object though (and trim your fingernails first)
