IN ANY CASE, you need to see a doctor and not put it off. ANY chest/lung pain should not be taken lightly, even if it turns out to be nothing serious. As you describe your symptoms, they are not "normal". I had similar symptoms when I had bronchitis a few years ago. The deep cough and it hurts (bad) when you cough. I would double over in pain. I am certainly not a doctor so what I have to say means nothing. I would suggest you get to the doctor ASAP and find out what is going on. If it is bronchitis, that can easily turn into pneumonia if allowed to persist. If that's what you have, the doctor will place you on heavy antibiotics to get rid of this lung infection.

The doctor! Do it!

Pleurisy is a possible. But as above, see the doc ASAP.

Straight to the doctor and get a referral to have an x-ray done if need be. Hopefully it's something minor.

My guess is that it is the result of the cough. And actually, bronchitis is not (or should not) be routinely treated with antibiotics. I would bet it is either pleuritic pain as mentioned or a pulled intercostal muscle. But the only way to get a real answer is to see your physician.

I was thinking about the pulled muscle too. Though, to be honest, intercostal was not the first word to come to mind. ;)

I had a coughing fit after some illicit substance and heard a big 'pop' followed by excruciating pain. Somanabitch hurt for quite some time.

From what you describe, it sounds like you might have a punctured/partially collapsed lung. I can't say for sure, but I had the same feeling when I had a punctured lung like 2 years ago... I was sleeping in my math class (lol) and had a feeling of nausea that lasted most of the day. The day after I had this pain around my collar bone and near my shoulder (it was at the top of my lung) and it hurt to cough or take in big breaths. It was weird though, because I went an entire week walking around w/ a punctured lung lol and when I finally told the doctor about it, he told me to go to the ER asap and when I got there they told me I had a punctured lung. #-oBy then though, it had healed and I only had to stay a night... wasn't that bad, but I hear it can be fatal in some serious cases, so yeah, you should definitely see a doctor in any case.

When I asked how rare it was, the doctor told me its common in young, thin white males. Not exactly sure why, but that's what he told me. Hope you feel better! (*8*)

yeah something similar to this happened to me once a few years ago. My doctor told me that they were "growing pains" and that it happens to lots of people.

I would not want to scare you with my short list of things it could be. None of them are particularly good. So do yourself the just favor by going to a good doctor or walk in
clinic and have it checked.
Shep+

blood clots in the lung typically do not cause pain. They cause shortness of breath and a rapid heart beat. And unless you're prone to them (bedbound, hypercoaguable, etc) it is unlikely to get one spontaneously.
