Anyone know a non surgical proven way to get rid of the, on the arms and chest?
or is surgery the best thing?

Nothing scientific here, and probably wrong, but I hear that rubbing Vitamin E oil can help lessen the looks of scar tissues.

Also I have hear that making a past with aspirin can help too, but that sounds rather old-wivish.

Sorry, I don't know of a good treatment for stretchmarks, but would suggest you cross surgery off your list of possibilities. It is hardly ever the best thing as it typically promises more than it delivers and often comes with undesirable side effects.

Fraxel works really well for strech marks. As does topical application off a retinoid. I like 0.1% tazorac gel.

I had some stretch marks on the top of the "bumps" of my biceps. So i had them Fraxeled. It took like 4 sessions and now they're gone. I pretreated with the tazorac for 12 weeks prior. And the tazorac alone helped the texture.

wow! really? where would i find those things?

I've heard that apha hydroxy acids can help minimize the appearance of stretchmarks.

something I know a lot about (female, for those who dont know hehehe)

the only thing that ever worked for me is Bio oil and concentrated shea butter.

use them on alternate days, not together because one is an oil and one is a cream

is the shea butter the same as cocoa butter, because ive tried cocoa butter and that really does nothing!

i really wanna try that bio oil stuff though, the website makes ot look promising

Shea butter is another nut butter, different from cocoa butter. I really don't think they'll do a whole lot for stretch marks.

shea butter is highly concentrated and usually has cocoa butter in it but mostly just to make it smell nice

it doesnt do much for stretch marks per-say, what its actually good for is firming the skin around the area and keeping the skin moisturised.

which is why I alternate it with the bio oil :D which is also good for scars and birthmarks, but it wont be immediate, you need to keep going and be patient

Let's be serious here, any type of "butter" or "oil" is not going to get rid of your stretchmarks. Old wives tales...

^^^ true but the idea isnt to get rid of them, there actually is no way to do this, all you can do is fade them to make them less noticeable and tighten the skin around the area to minimise them.

does it matter what they look like? like are some harder to get rid of then others?

on some people they will be more obvious than on other people.

but stretch marks are caused by the same thing......weight gain/loss, its why it is so common among pregnant women......fast weight gain = stretch marks.

on most people they appear as pale pink/red lines, on others they are paler "silver" lines on pale skin.

it should affect how quickly/effectively they fade.

as i said you cant actually get rid of them completely, all you can really do is fade them and stop them from getting worse.

they are harder to combat in certain areas of the body, and if you have a fair complexion then you might find they dont fade as much as you would hope.

i hope i explained that properly hehe
