Hey guys, I wanna know if anyone here hits the gym regularly and takes those protein supplements. I've used them in the past but I don't see much results of what I'd like to see... and I find that they only make me go to the washroom a lot... any advice?

dont eat shit is bad for the liver
train hard and hard...

dsimbol.qhealthzone.com they got cheap stuff that works. i have been useing stuff for them for awhile. they are number ine brand online and they came up with the first multi vit in 1939 or something like that

Protein supplements are fine if you are looking to add additional protein to your diet- particularly if you are on a budget or you have a busy lifestyle.

When you say washroom, are you saying that they upset your stomach or make you feel bloated? There are different kinds of protein supplements. People who are lactose intolerant may not be able to tolerate the whey-based supplements.

No, more like I had to sit at the toilet a lot. They had this laxative affect on me. And I wonder if that's normal... I can't seem to be able to upload a pic of myself otherwise I'd share. Right now I have a slim build, toned type of body but I'm not very happy with it. I want to get big. I was once told by someone that diet is very important, but I don't know how to add much more protein to my diet. I drink loads of milk and eat dairy like no one else, loads of meat. I'm ahuge carnivore. Even grains stuff like chick peas, beans, split peas, etc... but I'm not getting any bigger. As soon as I figure out how to upload pics into my profile I'll pose some of what I look like currently. I don't want to get all body builder veiny gross, but I do want something tight and hot for the summer season.

Thanks for replying to my thread by the way ..|

Make sure you're taking in more calories than you're using, and you're lifting a variety of different weights/motions. If you're not doing that, all the protein in the world won't help you get any bigger.

Do you normally drink a ton of milk? If your body's not quite used to it, indeed you'll find yourself on the toilet quite a bit if you suddenly start intaking mass amounts of milk.

And you should have no fear of getting "body builder veiny gross", because people spend years and years of hard work getting to that stage.

Supplements alone can't make you get "bigger." You need to look at the bigger picture. What is your routine like? Is your workout efficient? Is your diet in check? Are you eating more than enough? Are you consuming the right kinds of food after your workout?

There are lots of factors...

hi thank you for replying to this thread. i still don't have a clear picture of supplements though... exercise routine and everything is pretty high endurance for me. I can spend 3 hours at the gym easy... i'm not very organized about it though, meaning, somedays i do a full body work out, my back, chest, legs, then arms and abs, and glutes... i'm not big on the cardio part, but i start like this then i huit the weighjts. I leave the arms for last most of the time and then abs too. one time tyhis trainer i had when i first started working out said to me to leave abs last. well so i take this stuff but i forget the name and it's too expensive i think like $50.00! but i do think my body is getting bigger. a little bit. again, if i knew how to post pics on this site it would be better cuz then you could make advice. i wonder if a cheaper brand of this styuff is better... like what is the difference between all the things out there.

oh after i work out i make this drink with milk, banana or some other fruit, and a scoope of tyhe protein stuff and yougurt if i have it... right now i maker it with peanut butter, yogurt, tofu, milk banana or other fruit and the scoope of the protein, is this too much? is it good? perfect? i wanna know if the supplement is too much for nothing./

You should be able to get enough protein thru your diet. It's arguable if the powders are very bio available compared to bio-availability of traditionally ingested protein (meat for instance). Also make sure your fat intake is sufficient with that protein especially if you live in a cold climate.

But yes I have the same thing with a lot of supplements. They go right thru me rather than get incorporated. I don't know the details of the process but it's like they aren't getting absorbed properly. It's just a powder after all and has been processed to death already so the body may actually ignore a lot of it.

this is good to know thank you. I guess the verdict is out on the protein powder? I wonder why they are so expensive!!!!! my problem is i have a hard time getting big. i never gain weight. i can eat and eat and eat and i never gain weight. lately it seems i am dropping weight!!!! i have gone down a notch in my belt... so i don't know if this is good or not. but when do i make muscle rather than lose weight???? thats why i wonder if maybe supplements are for me. but like i say, when i take them sometimes i go to the bathroom a lot. and i am not lactose intolerant.

If can spend 3 hours at the gym, that means that your routine is not efficient and not intense enough. A good bodybuilding workout is typically under an hour and utilizes only a handful of compound exercises. I suggest you order "Starting Strength." It has a good reputation among bodybuilders and in the strength-training field. And yeah, you don't really need a trainer. . .

False. Protein powders are ideal immediately after a strength-training session. Your muscles are depleted at the end of a workout, so they need fast-acting protein to rebuild your muscles. So, mix a scoop of whey protein with gatorade or powerade (the powder kind). The idea is that if you mix protein with fast acting carbs (like in gatorade/powerade), the carbs can deliver the protein faster. The ideal ratio is 2:1 (2 grams of carbs for 1 gram of protein. So that usually turns out to be 3 scoops of gatorade/powerade for 1 scoop of protein. Drink this mixture right after your workout (ideally within 30 minutes). You can also choose to have a similar drink 30min before your workout.

As for gaining weight, it is all about eating more calories than you need. So you need to figure out how many cals you need to maintain your weight, and then add about 500 calories to that. Just google the Harris-Benedict equation for calorie calculations. Again, make sure you are eating a high-protein diet. I know what you mean about going to the bathroom a lot-- your body is just not use to eating that much protein.
