Syphillis and many other Sti's are particularly rampant in some countries at the moment... Go get tested for as much as you can - so that your mind is at rest...

I'm happy to hear that your going to the clinic to be checked out. Syphilis is so dangerous if left untreated. It is one of the most deadly STD's around. However, like so many other things catching it early is the key. It's easily treatable when found early on. Good luck and stay healthy. semi annual check ups (espically blood tests) are never a bad idea for sexualy active people 3x-4x per year.

Hey Mate , its not the end of the world, just a little infection. Get it checked out, fixed if need be and carry on. Life is too short to sweat the small stuff.

Identifying symptoms and going to the Doctor or Clinic is a great idea.

But becareful in doing your own self diagnostic work. My doctor says the internet is wonderful, but too often people read what want into the symptoms and get all worried for the wrong cause.

Be calm and go find out for sure. Yes, there are alot of STDs out there. So getting checked out twice a year is always a good idea. Have an HIV test done too while your there.

Go and get tested and get it treated and like you already know, just be a more prudent and safe next time.

Ha, yeah. Overreacted, turns out dry skin. I would fell stupid about freaking out but I'm jsut glad to be in the clear. Oh well, live and learn.

Actually, no. Primary syphilis is characterized by a painless chancre.

As to STI and STD... they are indeed phasing out STD in favor of STI. Apparently disease has a negative connotation that infection is lacking. Whatever.

I think the movement in the industry is because "disease" has picked up a connotation in society as something permanent and untreatable...essentially unchanging, whereas sexually transmitted infections are described as something that can be treated and/or lessens in severity as time passes. I suspect it's a language change, much like how 'psycho' is no longer used by people in the field to describe the insane as its use has been adopted and warped into the social vernacular.
