I was wondering if TCL makes good TVs?
My uncle can get a 55" for about $400.

I just bought a 55" TCL ROKU TV, model UP120U at Sam's yesterday for $489. This will be L/R TV, replacing (lousy, poorly supported by LG) 47" 47LM7600 that will go ont eh wall in the B/R. Any interest or can anyone point me to a thread on ROKU TVs?
What a crippled TV. NOT ready for prime time. Lousy buy and have been making optional connections with HDMI here and HDMI there (and all good new cables - hi-def and ARC rated). No assistance from the AVS forum on Receivers, Amp, and Processors. Given up on them. Given up on TCL ROKU TV customer support. All they tell me to do is "re-set to factory specs" and "consider replacing HDMI cables" or they say they will assist me with finding suitable streaming content or setting up parental controls. THEY RE USELESS>. Beware of this TV unless you only want to use the on-board TV's speakers (not set up to support external audio into an A/V receiver or speaker bar without using all your remotes!) AND unless you are planning on ONLY streaming.
NOT well set up to use a cable provider's set top box - unstable if you try to connect directly to ROKU TV, and if you go through your own A/V receiver, plan on using yet another remote all the time. Buyer Beware!
Before they started to use their own band name, they made TVs under the RCA name. They were really bad crappy TVs then. I'd be surprised if there were better now.
