Anyone know of a cheapish yet effective way to whiten teeth for uk citizens.

Thanks :)

check boots and superdrug, they do all sorts of teeth whitening systems, no idea how well they work but they range from toothpaste for less than £5, to full on 2 week systems at about £50 - £70.

alternatively ask your dentist, it will definately be more expensive but the results will probably be better and last longer

Hey, i wouldnt reccommend using any over the counter kits because in the uk the legal limit of hydrogen peroxide (the bleaching agent) is 0.1% and therfore wont give u great results, a qualified dentist can use a higher percentage, which will give you really good results, itll be expensive but much better than wasting your money on something from boots. Dont get me wrong these kits will make a slight difference but nothing major, if ur looking for a bright white smile go to your dentist.

I live in the USA, and I'm currently using those new Listerine whitening strips that dissolve while you wear them. So far, they are working quite nicely. Not sure if the UK has them. I paid @ $23 for a 2 week supply.

a very cheap way:
after brushing your teeth as you always do - brush them with salt. wet toothbrush - dip in salt, brush. once a day.
a bit disgusting, but it works - not as effective as those whiteners of course .. more like this slowly whitening toothpastes

quick fact that probably didnt want to know: rub fresh strawberries slices on your teeth to lift off coffee stains

I got a kit from boots, works really really well. My teeth are stain free and a good white colour (without looking ott) cost about £20-£25, I also use a smokers toothpowder once a week.
I've got a friend with a perfect white smile from using Arm and Hammer toothpaste (one with bakingsoda in??) would use it myself but the taste is awfull!

Going to the dentist to get it done will cost £300 or more which is alot of cash for something that only lasts 6-8 months.

Only downside is that the over the counter teeth whitening products are new, so long term effects of them are unknown, I do remember seeing something in the news warning that using some of them have actually broke down the tooth enamal (they wear away a small amount every time you use it to make your teeth look bright white)
