Re: The 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards

If Precious doesn't win or isn't nominated, I will cut somebody. I think Paula Patton, Monique and Gabby Sidibe deserve it.

Re: The 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards

I will cut somebody.

Is this something a segment of the population does that I'm not aware of?

Sounds just like what Taurean79 said right before Whitney Houston failed to garner a single grammy nomination.

Let me see if Anton98 is quoted over in the Whitney thread by Taurean79....

Not Surprised Mo'Nique received a Nod for best Supporting Actress & new-comer Gabourey Sidibe in the Best Actress categories...Mo'nique will win but Gabby has TOUGH competition with Sandra Bullock in the running...

I'm not surprised Morgan Freeman & George Clooney received nominations for Best actor..Everyone wants Morgan to win his 1st "Best Actor" Oscar so George has got some SERIOUS campaigning to do..Even if George wins the Golden Globe I don't think he'll win the Oscar...Morgan Freeman is GOD...

"Precious" MIGHT take home the Golden Globe for "Best Picture"..Come Oscar night "The Blind side" will probably take home the award...

I love Clint Eastwood and growing up I became an addict to all of his Flicks thanks to my parents...But does he really need another "Best Director" nomination? Lee Daniels should have been nominated for "Precious"..Hopefully Lee will get an Oscar nomination for his work....The RACE to the Oscars began today...

I tried to post up the list on here...but it wasn't working...so visit that link above and check it out for yourself

pretty happy with all the nominations....except when in the world will they stop nominating Entourage and Jeremy Piven?!?! That show hasn't been good in many seasons and Jeremy is not that great...he does the same thing over and over again...if NPH doesn't get it this year....urrrrghhhhhh

but happy for Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Lea Michelle, Jane Lynch, Matthew Morrison, True Blood, Big Love......

I do think Big Bang Theory and Jim Parsons were shut out though....

Meryl Streep (!)

YESSSSSSSSSS

She just won 5 Best Actress critics awards for Julie and Julia.

I really hope this is her year.

 @ Precious nominations. No one saw that coming. At all. Watched it last night and fail to see the brilliance...but I won't discuss the blatantly obvious racial undertones that people are seemingly oblivious and ignorant to...oh, it pains me to have an analytical mind...

I understand where you're coming from, but the performances in that movie are a knockout.

But yeah, Jeremy Renner (Hurt Locker) and Abbie Cornish (Bright Star) were robbed.

Both Meryl and Mo'Nique need to win the Globes to gain momentum. FP loves Meryl but she's nominated twice.

Helen Mirren looked like she was chewing the scenery in the trailer. And she just won three years ago.

I hope Basterds wins Screenplay, although In the Loop should be nominated.

TV: Happy that JH and JJ got nominated. if NPH or William Hurt loses to Jeremy Piven, I'm gonna throw tomatoes.

Series, Drama: "Dexter," Showtime; "True Blood," HBO.

Actor, Drama: Michael C. Hall, "Dexter"

Series, Musical or Comedy: "Modern Family," ABC

Actress, Musical or Comedy: Toni Collette, "United States of Tara"

Actress, Miniseries or Movie: Sigourney Weaver, "Prayers for Bobby."

Supporting Actress, Series, Miniseries or Movie: Jane Adams, "Hung"

Supporting Actor, Series, Miniseries or Movie: John Lithgow, "Dexter"
I love these nominations!

How many times does Michael C. Hall have to be nominated before he finally wins?

Goooo John Lithgow! He deserves to win and I think he will win. He's been amazing on Dexter.

I'm also happy with Jane Adams getting a nomination. She's quite good on Hung. I hope she wins.

Blech @ Anna Paquin getting nominated for Best Actress in a Drama. Just because she plays a lead character on a popular cable show doesn't automatically mean she's a good actress. In fact, she's quite awful.

Anyway, I wish Rutina Wesley (Tara, True Blood) or Adina Porter (Lettie Mae, True Blood) had been nominated for Supporting Actress. They're both so good. Especially Adina.

blacksyringe: The chicken scene was in the book lol. Best book ever. To me though, if "real America" sees this as a stereotypical story of African American youth, that's their stupidity, not the writer's. The best scene in the movie was the last, where it stays in the moment. I don't know if that compensates for back and forth from reality to fantasy which absolutely destroyed the mood of the movie.

And I agree and disagree with you on Mariah Carey. She was great, but knowing that she had to be spoon fed to get that performance took my love for it away.

And Michael C. Hall will lose to Jon Hamm!

Well, Anna did win this award for True Blood last year, but at the same time, her character was more annoying in the second season than the first.

I think Rutina and Adina are great actresses (and Adina had more to do last season), but I thought Michelle Forbes would have been a good nominee. Her storyline was polarizing, but no one can deny her chops. Well at least TB got a best drama nomination.

Prescious was a really good movie. But I can't say I was that immensely impressed by Mo'Nique like everyone else seems to have been. Maybe because I read about her "great performance" too much beforehand and was expecting

But I haven'T seen any of the other movies nominated, so I can't judge/compare.

Who brought Mariah Carey into the discusson? That's just ridiculous.

*shocked* how can you say you weren't impressed by Monique, she made me cry in the last twenty minutes of the film when she told her story.

It's ashamed that haven't had a chance to see any of these movies!!

However, I've seen some of the trailers, and based on the trailers, I'd say Monique gave a really good performance, and probably what made it really effective, was the fact that she's a comedienne doing a dramatic role.

And yay for Meryl for getting 2 nominations! This means she has a 40% chance of winning. Although, I haven't seen her movies, I've noticed that her performances have gotten only a little buzz, so maybe she won't win.

Being nominated twice in the same awards is already problematic. But in the same category, it's always trouble.

Its hard for me not to have an opinion as most these films aren't even in theaters yet.
