I never watched this show until tonight. After it won the Emmy for the 5th or 6th time in a row i had to find out what this was about and i have to say it was totally engrossing, i had to stop everything and only let up during commericial.


And i guess in addition to it being engrossing its scope is global unlike the other reality shows so i guess thats why it keeps winning the Emmy.


Anyways a couple questions?


When they were getting the tickets the agent was talking to them as if the contestants had to actually book and pay for the ticket themselves so is everything already paid for like travel and cab fare because all of them are taking cabs so are all contestants given a stipend for each leg of the race?

They give them a set amount of money each leg of the raise. They're free to use as much or as little of it as they please. They also must book all their own flights (in fact that's a big part of it.) Sometimes teams run out of money and wind up having to bargain with cabbys or beg on the streets. One year in the last leg one team arrived at the last destination in first place and had to beg people on the street for cab fare before they were allowed to cross the finish line and just had to hope no other teams arrived and finished while they were begging for dollars and cents

Actually the plane fare is taken care of but they must fly coach, no first class. The rest, cabs, tips etc are their responsibility out of their allotted money.

I feel like there's less teams this year. And no real EyeCandy. Sorry but those those frat guys are so gross. It's kind of a waste to cast them and those video game/comic book/whatever-the-hell nerds. And do we need tacky southern blondes again? But whatever I gotta complain, this is still my favorite and the only reality show I would actually do?

I didnt really notice any hotties i was just so caught up.


It was funny when a couple of them hugged India (ice cream vendor) he was like, what are you doing, we dont hug here just take the clue and get off of me.

I agree that Terrence and Sarah are going to be fun to watch. When he was talking about her talking to the other teams and not giving him attention and "connecting" with him, and she was staring off into the corner of the room trying act like he wasn't crazy, I was laughing my ass off.


My early favorites are Toni and Dallas, although their relationship seems borderline creepy, and Nick and Starr, mainly because I have a new TV crush on Nick.

I hate Starr. She seemed nice in the intro but the more I watched she seems like such a bitch. She is mean unnecessarily. She reminds me of April from Big Brother 10 with brown hair. Nick is ok since there is such slim pickings lookswise.But he's kind of a little bitch too for talking shit about the frat guys for no reason.

Terrence is an idiot. Sarah seems really sweet and very nerdy. She just wants to be liked. I feel sorry for her for having to deal with Terrence. Something tells me her dorky personality scares guys off. Maybe she can hook up with one of the comic geeks and dump Terrence's sorry ass. She deserves to be treated better. I admire that she seems to really appreciate the experience and not just running around like a maniac. Amazing Race really wouldnt be about the money for me.

I think there are at least 3 guys who are very hot. I actually love this show better than any other reality show. I like eye candy as much as the next but personality comes into play so much better here than most. There is always a beauty girl team, someone who whines, this time a guy, a bitchy couple breaking up or are trying to mend the fences - is stress the best way to go here - and sometimes the cream rises to the top as it did in the season with Jon and Kris. I still love those 2 to this day and would love to see them again.

I was sorry to see the the first team go. I thought they were fascinating. Love is a beautiful thing.

That whole "Oh my god that person/people who may or may not have heard me didn't make small talk with me as we were racing through the streets of Brazil I hate them!" Think is totally something that would spring out of an April level of delusion, self-absorption, and total personal insecurity. I mean get over yourself there's plenty of time to make small talk (At airports, when waiting outside buildings, during the TWELVE HOUR pit stops). If she really expect people to stop and reply to her completely empty meaningless comment that she just spouted out because she wanted something to say than she's a dumb ass. She's just as annoying as her boyfriend. They deserve each other.

As for the frat guys and the nerds. Clearly none of them are hot but I wouldn't call it a "waste."

The frat boys managed to annoy me faster than any team since Johnathan and Victoria with their childish whining an moaning. Who gets to the airport second to last and completes about being 6th in line for tickets? They were just making such a huge fuss over everything and it's like dudes you're in line with 5 other people who didn't make it and they're BEHIND YOU. Shut your mouth and stop whining and just suck it up like everyone else. (that kinda annoyance is nto a waste but someone to root against).

And the nerds were kinda meh. I appreciated them but wasnt a huge fan.

^I tend to agree with you a bit about cbs and gays.Like on this years survivor. It seems good at first but a lot of straight people see Charlie they see him as a creepy fag predator trying to infect Marcus with is nasty gayness.

And I do agree they should be a bit more diverse in casting. And pick people who are a little more respectful and curious of other cultures. I don't think it's that a bad a cast this year. But it is kinda funny they have the token one black pair every year.

The gravitated to Ken and Tina because they were a middle aged couple and going in they were looking for "Mom and Dad" type figures to pair up with. I don't see where you get that people need to have a certain "image." I also don't see where she's not allowed to think a guy is hot without being stuck up. I mean come on?

And you can hardly make judgements based on the previews. They're highly edited. Seeing as Sarah already decided she hated them you have no idea what words were exchanged or how they were treated or what happened before you get to that two second clip where for all we know Sarah could still be reliving the trauma of last week (BB's April and the chicken fingers anyone?). From what the preview made it look like Dumb and Dumber had their panties in a twist because Star & Nick and Tina & Ken were working together... like people don't do that all the time?! Star really didn't do anything one way or the other this episode I don't see anyone could have an animosity towards her if it's not based simply on cheerleader stereotype.


And whoever said they should have a two hour pilot is SO right.

There was very little the four teams who left last the second morning could do to gain any ground so you knew one of them would be Philiminated. If they were gonna camp out for the night and continue the next morning it should have been a longer epi like Season 6 in Iceland or the dreaded Season 8 Family camp out in Penn. But still a very solid opener.

Nothing evil about disliking Terrence and Sarah, all of the teams shouldn't be likeable, hope they hang on and finish 3rd.

I am so glad this show is back on. I had thought it had been cancelled, but am glad to see I was wrong. I love this show for so many reasons. First, being in the travel business and having been to quite a few places, its fun to be able to see new places where I might want to travel to. Second, I love the team aspect of having to work together to get something accomplished and third is the overall competition between the teams and the little issues they have. Only two days into the show (their time) and someone hates someone else. This means we should have some good action going on in the next few episodes.
Fave teams so far are Nick and Starr and Dallas and his mom. Not any that I really hate yet, but the frat boys and Terrence and his girlfriend could be contenders if they keep up their game the way they were shown in the first episode.

I still hate Nick and Star. Nick moreso than Star. He's such a bitchy little queen that thinks its funny when he does fucked up things.
