While we're at it, Lauren Koslow (Kate, Days) gets my vote for Supporting Actress. Fans love to hate her as she interferes in all of her children's love lives and does everything in her power (both legally and illegally) to make them happy when, in the end, she just makes everybody miserable. Not to mention, all her men... all her numerous, numerous men. What a diva... I idolize her! She's a sex goddess. A bitchy businesswoman. She's amazing. After all, the woman IS my avatar.

Lauren Koslow as Kate Roberts. Gotta love her:

And you've never seen X-RATED in daytime like you have in THIS clip. Definitely pushing the boundaries. Nakedness, lots of humping... he licks his fingers and rubs them on her lips... throws her on the desk. Hot, hot, hot. The woman is a sex goddess!

Wow time really does fly. After watching those Youtube Susan/Kristen scenes i remember it like yesterday. That storyline was some good stuff. That was when Days was must see TV.

Nowadays though people dont take NBC soap operas seriously. They are just fun to watch but thats about it. And sometimes it is just plain ridiculous.

The Marlena possession had to have the most watched period in the history of Daytime TV. Even people that werent hardcore DOOLS fans tuned in because that was compelling stuff and Deidra hall pulled it off.

Darcy Rose Byrnes - so what if she is 5 or 6. Camryn the actress that played Cassie was i think 9 or 10 when she won the emmy for younger actress. Oscars have been given to actors under 10 before.

Thanks again for the trip down memory lane. That Susan/Kristen story it was so good, unreal but so good. Its not easy for an actress to have to play an alter ego, let alone 5.

Eileen Davidson's run on "DOLT" was one of the greatest acting tour de force's in soap opera history. I would love to see her return now that she's been canned from "Y&R" where she has been sorely underused ever since her return in 1999.

^ So how have they written her out and will Abby be gone too or will she stay with Brad, i havent watched in awhile.

I completely agree, obviously, LoL.

I'm still obsessed with her and her role to this day!

Over the past eight years, Days hasn't been a serious soap. Entertaining at times, but not a 'take me seriously' soap. That's all changing now that four-time Emmy Award winning Hogan Sheffer is the new headwriter, though. You should really give it a looksee... it's a show you wouldn't recognize (in a GOOD way).

does anyone remember that american soap "santa barbara" with CRUZ and EDEN, kelly, gina, mason, julia, c.c. .... that was the best soap of all time!

I don't like americans soaps they are too cheap and trasy but this one was so great! it won lots of emmys and was named best american soap opera of all time. it was on nbc

Under Phelps' tenure most of the show revolved around Cruz and Eden. One controversial storyline involved Eden being brutally raped

"Santa Barbara" is hands down, the best soap opera ever created. It had an amazing and creative power to big to be contained, especially the years 1985-86 which is when it hit a zenith.

The show won Outstanding Drama three years in a row (1987/88/89) and a slew of stars won Emmys for it from Marcy Walker (Eden), Justin Deas (Keith), A Martinez (Cruz). Powerful, powerful soap this was.

Re: "Days" I don't watch it. But I am always embarassed for them when Emmy nods are announced. They're definitely the neglected step-child of the soap world. Over the past five years, I can think of only two actors from that show that have gotten nominations: Kyle Lowder (2003) and James Reynolds (2004). There is buzz that former nominess Kristian Alfonso might get a nomination. But "Days'" top diva Deidre Hall has had Emmy buzz for over a decade now and she keeps getting sidelined by the Slezaks, Staffords, Zimmers, etc.

By the way, the 2007 Emmy nominations will be announced on March 14. The actual awards show -- presented in April of last year -- has been pushed to June 15 of this year.

LOVED, LOVED, LOVED "Santa Barbara." Cruz and Eden were the greatest super-couple ever in soaps, rivaled only by GH's Luke & Laura. The show never recovered when Marcy Walker ("Eden") left the show in 1991 and went to the great soap heaven in the sky about one and a half years later. The rape story was one of the best mystery/thriller stories in soaps -- EVER. And "SB" had some of the greatest villains in soap history -- Gina, Keith, Kirk, Elena, Pamela, Zach, Robert/Quinn, etc. I could go on and on about that show.

Wow, DryIce .. you remember Elena from "Santa Barbara"? She was such a minor character yet in a small period of time, managed to change the canvas of SB forever ...

C.C.: "Who did this to you, Elena?"
Elena/Eleanor: "Cruz. Cruz killed me, daddy"

I was always amazed at the incredible resemblance between Elena (Sheryln Wolter) and Belinda Carlisle who was all over the pop charts in the mid-1980's. Check for yourself:

Elena Story was on SB from March, 1987 to September, 1987 (I have a lot of those shows on tape!).

And if memory serves me correct, Eden was raped by her OBGYN in the summer of 1988. She gave birth to a baby nine months later but it turned out to be Cruz's.

DAMN! And I thought I was the only soap nerd in the world who remembered this obscure shit! The Elena story was what got me hopelessly hooked on "SB." I was so impressed with Sherilyn Wolter's performance because she had just come off of playing the goody-two-shoes Celia on "General Hospital" for years, but she was downright scary and evil as Elena on "SB."

Hey Bradlee, did you read Daniel R. Coleridge's take on firing 30-year- 2x Emmy winner Julia Barr from "All My Children"?:

http://community.tvguide.com/forum.jspa?forumID=700000047

... Good thing you gave up on "AMC" years ago. The past two years have been magnificently HORRIBLE. I began watching the (what canned Barr called :p it), "once legendary program" in 1992 and thought the show was great for about five years on ...

Janet From Another Planet ... Noah & Julia ... Kendall (as played by Sarah Michelle Gellar) ... The Ups & Downs of Hayley & Mateo ... and I even enjoyed Bianca (in the beginning/coming out).

But the show has been handed over to Cameron Mathison's Ryan Lavery character, shaky camera moves, an MTV/Laguna Beach-inspired storylines, and I sadly feel it can't be saved. And it warranted the award for Most Disappointing Show from Soap Opera Digest. I say cancel the damn thing and send Susan Lucci's Erika Kane to Llanview :p

As for "General Hospital," it definitely deserved the Best Show award (and it'll more than likely win ANOTHER Emmy this June for Best Show). That show was on a freakin' Can't Lose Train this year with Nancy Lee Grahn's Julia character finding out the town bitch Sam was her given-away-for-adoption daughter.

Not to mention the returns of Emma Samms, Rick Springfield, and of course the most popular female soap character of all, Laura !!!

Don't forget to catch the repeat of the re-marriage of Luke & Laura on Christmas Day on SOAPNET.

My own opinion is that All My Children is currently the worst soap and As The World Turns is the best. Now that nuLucy has exited, there's not a bad actor/actress on ATWT. Y&R is really going downhill fast. I haven't met anyone who likes the direction the show is taking. Devon's hearing loss and Brad becoming Jewish are possibly the two single most boring storylines I've ever seen - like one long Public Service Announcement.

Judith Chapman was also on ATWT as a villainess named Natalie. I think she was involved with Tom, Bob & Lisa's son.
