The Class of '69

I was thinking the same about colors some time ago. Almost all cars are white, grey, silver, or black. There are a few exceptions of blue or red. In the last year or so there have been a few more exceptions. Also, I do remember how cars used to be different from each other, I'm remembering tail fins. I'm not sure if wind resistance for greater fuel efficiency had anything to do with this where everything looks alike now or not.
Regarding tail fins, which were most popular in the late 50's and early 60's; due to the space race heating up between the U. S. and the USSR; and, the emergence of the jet aircraft, everyone and everything was adding rocket fins for that sleek, out-of-this world look :rotflmao: The tallest automobile fins were some 36 inches high on the 1959 Cadillac Eldorado, IIRC.

About paint colors, I've never understood why automobile manufacturers limit each model to 5 or 6 colors out of the dozens available to each manufacturer. If I want to order a new automobile in say "Molten Fire Red" even though it isn't offered on the model I'm ordering; but, is available on other models, why can't I order that specific color ](*,)
