you have to read the comics! the cartoon is just the "disney" version, much like the movies

I did, too, but I didn't get why she became evil?

The Phoenix Force is a pure cosmic entity. It didn't know what human emotions were like. After it had a bit of it's taste, later it became addicted just as if it was a drug wich lead her to losing control. As the Phoenix Force said in the first clip you posted..."but I discovered an element humans call emotion...I lost my way".
That's why she became evil...feeling human emotions was overwhelming to her, driving her mad.

oh i know, the movie really bastardized all the characters. she didnt even have the bombass costume phoenix wore. phoenix was difenetly the coolest character of the whole series

Yeah, I did not really care for the movie at all. Whether it was the attire, the explanation of Jean Grey's Phoenix alter-ego, who she killed, how her abilities were portrayed as well as how she died.

Wow I never expected to see this here. I loved the Phoenix saga, i even downloaded it a while ago just to have it.

I used to watch and rewatch the video of this saga when I was younger.

The actualy comics of this saga are brilliant. Deservedly classic, and yeah, the build-up, and the climax (taking about 20+ issues in total) made Jean grey a serious player.

I just wish they would do a series where Jean can just be the Phoenix. In the comics she used the name and the costume for quite awhile, I don't know why they can't use that in the cartoons. In the original series, they made her so weak she couldn't even fly. In X-Men Evolution, they at least made her a stronger character and she could fly like she can in the comics, but in either series they never give her a code name...not even Marvel Girl (which is pretty cheesy, but it's at least something). When I heard that they were going to turn her into Phoenix in the original series, I was hoping they'd have her as the Phoenix for at least a season before doing the Dark Phoenix Saga and do a whole new opening sequence showing her in her Phoenix costume, but no....they had to go and make her evil right away. I'm still glad they did it though, the Phoenix sagas were the reason I started reading the X-Men and her being killed off in the comics was the reason I stopped reading and won't go back until they bring her back...which is a possibililty I hear.
