Until the 1980s, right earring meant gay, left earring meant bohemian, both ears meant you were pirate.

Well, c'mon guys. Piercings are much more common among gay men than straight men. Tattoos, too.

But there are so many straight men that do it, that you can't definitely tell. It's just one clue among many.

Modernly, most males will get their left ear and not their right, because the right ear means they are homosexual. Some males prefer not to believe in such rubbish and will wear piercings in their right or left or both ears.

If you see a guy with an earring, it means he has an earring. Full stop.

And almost every guy I know with a tongue or nipple piercing is straight. Most are in Warped-Tour-style bands, though.

It may be an old school thing but straight guys still don't wear right earrings only. They wear both or none and all the other straight guys is grandfathered in wearing them on the left.

No straight guy is gonna go to the kiosk and get 1 earring on their right ear because they don't do single earrings anymore and they especially don't do that if they did. Well unless they're trying to become a PUA
