Circle jerks must be an American thing. Never heard about it before reading the book

I wonder. I'd have guessed it would be (in some form, at least) more universal. But what do I know?

Perhaps this could be the topic of a book. Perhaps titled The American Circle Jerk: History, Future, and Sociological Implications.

I first heard of the idea in the early 2000s, when I was reading about masturbation.. I've never had the opportunity in participating in one. I've wondered how I'd have reacted when I was a teenager in the unlikely event that I'd have gotten an opportunity. Part of me would have been very interested, but I suspected I'd have been too scared to do it. I so terrorized of AIDS that I don't think I'd have been comfortable with even masturbating with another guy.

I was a grown adult, probably around 25 when I first heard the term "circle jerk" used by a 20 year old guy. He was explaining something from his youth and said ocassionally did a circle jerk with his friends. I don't remember how many in the circle but more that 3. He had to explain to me what the term meant. The point of the jerk was to see who could cum the fastest. I probably asked, back then, if everybody continued to try and cum, or if the circle jerk was over after the first one came. He would have been in his early teens when he did that. We both identified as straight back in those days although I was fully in the gay closet and had not yet had any sexual experiences.
