First off if your not a fan of Doctor Who, watch Doctor Who or haven't the slightest interest in Doctor Who...then this thread isn't for you! :)

Now then, My fellow Who fans, ever since season one of the new Doctor Who started back in 2005. We have been left with hints of a "Last Great Time War" between the Time Lords and the Dalek race.

I just like to hear your theories, thoughts or plots about it? I figure with season three coming to an end by the end of June maybe we get some more hints as to what happened. Also with the dimension that rose is trapped in...is there Time Lords and Daleks in that realm too? Is there a dimension where the Daleks won over the Time Lords?

Discuss your thoughts here! :)

Oh yeah here's a really good trailer (fan made) for a Doctor Who: Time War movie!

I am shocked that nobody who watches Doctor Who from either the past or present even cares about discussing the Time War. Rumour has it that Season 4 will be mostly about it!

Guess I should have went with naked pictures of cybermen and daleks! :(

I'm not sure how the series will fit the Time War storylines in. Like any series it has to go forwards rather than backwards and I think that revisiting the period between the TV movie and the new series might alienate new viewers.

I haven't watched much Doctor Who apart from this series to be honest, but at the same time I would be interested in what happened. I'm guessing there could be some involvement from past companions like Ace, Leela and Romana, and the more villainous Gallifreyans might be forced to sacrifice themselves.

As for other dimensions - didn't the Doctor say that hopping across dimensions was easier when the Time Lords were around? That might indicate that there are no equivalent Time Lords in parallel dimensions; perhaps they exist only in one dimension, and were completely wiped out of existence across all dimensions during the Time War.

actually the time lords (i just found this out!) existed in all dimensions. IE they existed with time.. Ie if i was a time lord I could walk to another dimension like it was a doorway. I was the same person in every dimension instead of there being a different me in the other dimension!!

From what I have gathered from watching the new series is that the this time war erased all of the time lords from time and space and are no longer in existance, The Doctor said he survived by fighting on the fromt lines, which is confusing because the master only managed to survive by using the chameleon arch. I think that the time lords were pushed into another dimension like the dalek's prison ship was, the daleks mostly survived, but if the doctor was on the front lines then surely he would know that they did.
I bet the hole between the dimensions will open up again and all of the cybermen and daleks will coem through, and maybe the timelords will too.
I'll keep you posted on my latest theories, speaking of which what are yours screnutty?

Well my first theory is about the master. He was sucked into the tardis (eye of harmony) during the movie right....I think he escaped when Rose opened up the time vortex. He made himself human though to escape the time war...hmmm

As for the time war. We know what happened. The machine that the doctor builds at the end of season one is the one that kills all the daleks and time lords. fries there brain. That's how he survived. He was at ground zero

oooh i hadn't seen this thread! excellent fan video.

crap...the doc said he used a delta wave to wipe out everything? i'll have to go back and look for that. does he say it in one of the two end episodes of season 1?

as for the daleks surviving. well they only survived by falling through a "crack in time" if i recall correctly. that was how the one dalek in "Dalek" survived and how the emperor's ship survived. the 4 daleks that survived in that sphere ship did so by leaving time and space for the void. we don't know when they did that, but presumably during the time war when they thought there was a chance they would lose. at any rate surely if some of the daleks slipped through cracks in time, then some time lords could also.

i don't see how the time lords existed in all or different dimensions. the doctor has slipped into other dimensions before and it was always on accident.

opps forgot the master. well... he could have gotten out of the "eye of harmony" at any time after he got sucked into it. i was thinking maybe he got out when the tardis was out of energy in that alternate universe. but that then seem unlikely as he'd have had to get back to this one. but i guess he could have at some point since lots of humans were popping back and forth.

i've not see this week's episode yet. still 11 hours to go damn it. slow night... anywho i don't know how he got that far into the future. where/when did he use the chameleon arch? presuming he had another tardis somewhere maybe he used the one in it. but where would he have gotten a spare tardis after getting out of the eye of harmony?

i don't know i'm just confused as all get out at the moment.

/\ lol well i'm sure he stole it. But if he got out of the Tardis after Rose did her thing...then that was after the time war, after when there were no more time lords, no more gallifrey, so there i would have thought there were no more tardises. i guess he could have had one stashed somewhere...and all he'd have had to do was get to it.

downloads have speed up thankfully. i should get to see it in about an hour. :)

hmmmm unless it wasn't the real master in the movie. Put something happens into night's episode that happens in the movie. I can tell you later mike when you actually see it!

oh you guys. there are sooo many theories running around over in the digitalspyforums, which this week doctor who/torchwood just got their own subforums. lol. http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=115 it's near the top. you can see there are some threads on the master and how he was able to regenerate. some of the theories include him and the time war. you should check it out. :)

The theory that this master is the one before he dies by the daleks is so wrong it's not funny! How could the daleks exterminate him if they were erased from time like the time lords? maybe that's how he escaped his fate in the movie.....who knows but I'm sure we'll find out soon enough!

i've said over in the spyforums, that the daleks couldn't have been erased from time. they were just all killed off (of course now we know they weren't), but so were the time lords (of course now we know they weren't all either). the people on satilite 5 know about daleks, but that one dude says they died out thousands of years ago. so they weren't erased from time. also, captain jack knows about them and what their ships looked like. he also knows about time lords. when martha pulls out the hand in the jar and the prof asks what species he is, he said time lord and asks if they've ever heard of them even in myth? then when they shake their heads no, he says something like "blimy the end of the universe is..." i can't tell what that last word is.

but...i absolutely agree this master is so not the one who dies by the daleks in the movie. that's just silly. ;)
