The Little Mermaid on DVD!!!

I think we have to be there - when the film Bambi was first released, to understand why Bambi was magical to them then.. It was relatively rare to see animated film that plays with the music editing and more. I personally won't tick that as my fav Disney animation picture, but I am trying to understand the reason it is famous.

Say, anyone cried watching Dumbo? When the song Baby Mine came on, I shed tears.

My favourite "Disney fairytale" is Sleeping Beauty, for all the reasons pjlikesporn has mentioned - Maleficient is the best Disney villaness ever, but Ursula comes a close second.
We're def in sync here. The first thing I thought after seeing The Little Mermaid was how much Ursula resembled Melificent. Ursula had a kick-ass song ("Poor Unfortunate Souls"), but she was just a hair less refined and elegant than her Sleeping Beauty counterpart.

I love that movie too, I bought a copy too but haven't seen it. I'm also in love with part of your world. Damn my sister for telling me to wait for her to see it.

I totally bought the Little Mermaid DVD yesterday. Even though my roommate keeps laughing at me I'm still insanely happy because that movie is AWESOME!!!! I watched with my best girlfriend today and fell in love with it all over again. So glad it's finally on DVD.

So I fell in love with The Little Mermaid so much that I went out and bought Cinderella, Bambi and Aladdin on dvd as well. I only had enough time to watch Bambi, which I'd never seen before, and I thought it was great. I didn't cry but it was defnitely shocking. Other than the parts with the hunters the movie is very mellow and cheerful. Such a great movie.

I loved the Little Mermaid. Totally loved it. I didn't realize that it was all hand-drawn.

As for classic Disney stuff, I love Lady & The Tramp. That is great.

i grew up watching disney's movies... soooooo in love!

mermaid is prolly my fav movie
luvs all ariels songs!
i also used to love the way she sings at the beach with all that splashing water...
pretty movie!!!!!!!!

I'll get it on dvd too...

I love The Little Mermaid it's one of my faves of the Disney line, but my absolute favorite is the Jungle Book.

I need to pick up the dvd. The little Mermaid is one of my favorite disney movies. I love the Lion King as well. The songs from aladdin, pocahontas,LM and Lion King are all classics. Sometimes I just get in a disney mood and I have to listen to those songs.

/\ i agree 100%. the opening sequence to lion king just gets me everytime.

The little mermaid was what got me interested in Disney art. it was the first one i really remember seeing although i saw bambi, and a lot of the other ones. we had a teacher in hs that my group of friends didn't like (2 of us hated her with a passion) and we though her and ursula were twins. ;)

there was a funny parady on youtube of someone singing part of your world and sex but i can't find it. it was pretty well done and funny. ;)

I like all Disney movies except Bambi. That shit was just wrong. I always used to cry when I was little. What little kid wants to see a movie where someone's mother gets killed.Kids look upon their mothers as god when they are young.
Agreed. But even worse is Dumbo. From the first five minutes, you're in tears and it never seems to let up thru the entire movie. Just thinking about the song "Baby Mine" (where Dumbo's jailed mother sticks her trunk out of the bars to rock her son to sleep) makes me sob. Okay, now I'm actually on the verge of tears.

How can any child sit thru that?

It's just common knowledge by now that all the mothers in Disney movies will die, are dead, or just don't exist.

The Little mermaid is the best disney movie ever!!!!. I got the DVD and it is great, the restoring on the color and everything is BEAUTIFUL!!!
