Ok somehow my text didn’t show.

The Beatles are the biggest legend in music.

I didn’t really get into them until 4 years ago. Then I had to collect everything.

How many Beatles fans are on here?

They really are something. They shaped and influenced music of the future. There was nothing ever like them. They had 5 songs sit in the first 5 slots on the billboard hot 100#. They’ve sold more albums and singles then any artist in US and World history.


Interesting if you grew up in the states in the 60s, because Americans got different album names and scattered tracklists. However the US albums had songs on the albums not on ANY UK album. Americans also got the hey Jude album. I personally prefer the US version of Rubber soul. I’m glad they made a US box set the CDs are in Mono AND Stereo and come in mini LP format. They even have replicas of the original inner sleeves.

My favorite US album is “The Beatles Second Album” and Uk probably Please Please Me.

Btw Ringo Star and Paul were so damn sexy in their early career ��

God I hate the beatles! My dad likes them and I honestly just cant listen to them. He also says modern music wouldn't be what it is without them. I think the technology would have been used by another artist because they personally didn't pioneer it, but they liked what it sounded like and used it.

Ive met people who dont like certain big artists. If we all liked the same thing the world would be boring.

And your father is correct, they shaped modern music. Even if you dont agree with that, they are the best selling artist in music history... in almost EVERY country. They had the top 5 slots for the billboard 100# at the same time. Thats... never going to happen again. In the US they had 4 albums come out in one year, all charting at #1. They have so many records that will probably never be broken.

There are artists Im not much a fan of, but I can appreciate the talent behind the work.

And btw some of the technology they used had never done before. They were the first artists to use multiple music effects. Sgt. Pepper (Stereo) is a perfect example. Why do you think their original releases go from 200-90 grand? Ive seen simple 45s go for 6 thousand.

All I'll say is that Paul McCartney should be pensioned off. They wheel him out for national events such as The Queen's birthday or jubilee parties and he's just so dreary and out of tune.

So pretty much early Beatles, or at least earlier Beatles. I Am The Walrus seems to be the outlier. Why the mono versions? Are they the original ones and only later made stereo, or do you just think they're better?

I love We Can Work It Out. I'm not that much of a connoisseur that I've recognized the difference between the mono and stereo versions.
I've heard there are notable differences in some of the earliest pieces between what was released in England and then later in America.

Your Yesterday and Today album with an intact cover must be very rare. I understand that the cover art was controversial enough that most were covered over.

Have you seen any of the movies: A Hard Day's Night, Help, Yellow Submarine or Magical Mystery Tour? The first three have virtues, but MMT is one of the worst movies ever made, a disaster despite I Am The Walrus.

My parents were at the leading edge of the Beatles generation, so I grew up hearing many of these songs. Also a lot of French and Italian pop, which are from an entirely different musical world.

Love yesterday and today. I’ve played that CD a lot. I just got 2 copies of the mono box set. I love we can work it out as well. It’s on the Mono masters/past masters in the U.K. discography. I like to follow the US track lists as the vibe flows more.

I appreciate magical mystery tour, the white album, and sgt peper more now after fully hearing them in mono.

I like a few of their songs, but I can't really call myself a fan.

Helter Skelter is my personal fave.

There's something about the tilted piano phrase that opens "Sexy Sadie" and worms it's way throughout the song that creeps me out in a pleasant way. The way it juxtaposes with the main melody is quite brilliant.

Equally creepy is the morbid prescience of some of the lyrics if you consider the meaning Charles Manson (wrongly) assigned the song; he made it a paean to Susan Atkins, who confessed to her cellmate and thus broke the case. And Lennon's lyric goes "Sexy Sadie/You broke the rules/You laid it down for all to see"

I think John and Charlie were in cahoots.

You guys haven’t heard the White album fully until you hear the mono version. Some songs sound horrible in stereo, some sound better in stereo. You need to hear both. “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” SHINES in mono. The soul feels taken out with stereo. If that’s all you’re used to, you’ve never TRULY heard it. I have every album and all tracks in both mixes of an alternate exists.

I was never a fan of the White Album until I heard “Guitar” in Mono among others. Julia does sound better in stereo though..
