The Official Second Annual Hot Stove League

OK so it's January 1st, can you smell it? can you feel it?
Pitchers and catchers will be reporting before ya know it:D

Meantime the new MLB channel starts up today
Check it out

http://mlb.mlb.com/network/
Sorry sonny, been WAY neglectful of the glory that is baseball for too long!oops!I have to work tonight,so I can't catch the official launch of the MLB network but look forward to getting a welcome taste of spring this winter and cath some programming.

Derek Lowe....please Mets, you give a good offer and don't skimp too much
worrying about nickels and dimes. The price has come way down and Omar, you've got to pounce and add a clutch, classy big name winner to fortify the rotation!

Just six more weeks to pitchers and catchers.......can't wait sonny!:gogirl:

Good for Boston on extending Kevin Youkilis(in addition to their earlier extension of Dustin Pedroia) and the Phillies on extending Cole Hamels and Ryan Madson....it's good baseball public relations and sense to lock on to your best players going into their prime. They all are quality individuals who could have taken more through yearly arbitration victories, but are more interested in their teammates than their own egos.

Sonny, ever heard of Nick Markakis of the Baltimore Orioles, from Glen Cove,NY?
Read up on his stats as he has been an extemely underrated,.300 type hitter,20 homers,100 RBI,15-20 stolen base type outfielder....got six years,66 mil to give up his first thre years of free agency.Saw his pic in the Yahoo baseball player profile....the guy looks like a Greek god,he's gorgeous!Sorry for the hornball gratuity!oops!,but I'm telling you if he played in Philly,Boston or New York....well,WOW!:gogirl:

Oh indeed I have, the really talented, and may I say hot ones,
rarely fly under my radar
I recall seeing him for the first time about 2 years ago when he hit
(was it 2 or 3) home runs for the Orioles.battin close to .300. Good defense as well.
If we don’t get Nady back then this kid could fit in nicely at right with Church. ..|

Jeff Kent who is expected to announce his retirement today.
Jeff a five time all star spent 17 years in the major leagues and leaves as the career home run leader among second basemen with 351.

I loved him as a Met but I guess his biggest sucess came with the Giants.

Next stop for Jeff shuld be Cooperstown, cause he has Hall of fame written all over him.

Jeff has a reputatuon for being a bad ass in the clubhouse and always seemed to be chip on his shoulders, but he was one of the best second baseman in baseball. Oh and I would have to mention, quite the babe as well ;)

Our sonny,classy as always!(*8*)

Jeff Kent was never a clubhouse role model, there was always some tension
with him but he was over the past decade the best offensive second baseman in history....I don't think anyone, let alone the Mets could have foreseen just how outstanding Jeff would become offensively....eight 100 RBI seasons,25-30 homers,40+ doubles per season at his peak.

He obviously could have played another year or two, finishing off strong during the regular season but wanted to go out proudly, unlike others who played though their time had well passed. And yep, sonny always notices the hot ones as well,;)as Jeff Kent always had that classic rugged stud look.I believe he does belong in the Hall of Fame because of his standing as the best, most consistent offensive second basemen ever.

Oh,and can we put out on all points bulletin on Abs?He's been MIA so long in the baseball threads he may need to be re-taught everything about the intracacies of baseball!

First up.....it's played on a large field with a ball and bat and nine men are always placed in alignment on that field to prevent nine other men from scoring.;)

Apparently Abs was sunning and funning on St. Thomas for a friend's wedding...lucky bitch!;)

He's back,though!:D

St. Louis slugger Albert Pujols is lobbying the Cards to sign Manny Ramirez, though it is a long shot.Still, the thought of Manny going to the Cards without Omar Minaya trying to steer him to New York...it bears watching.
I don't think Manny really wants to go back to the Dodgers or the supposedly intrigued San Francisco Giants.I just wish Omar was much more pro-active this winter after seemingly being content to get K-Rod on discount and JJ Putz through trade. The Mets with their two straight late season collapses are in no position to be choosy.

Yeah he will never be a Cardinal, the problem with him becoming a Met is the money. The Mets will not go overboard for anyone and Manny would force the Mets budget to way beyond the breaking point. Its too bad thought cause there is great momentum in the press and with the fans to bring Manny in.
Hey, maybe the Mets could ask for a bailout to get Manny.

Well,if the porn industry was also looking for a bailout, maybe not such a crazy idea!;)

If Manny ever put on a Cardinal jersey, I would be so mad it would spill over into the season, which is the last thing I need. Fuck him. I hate him.

However, this makes me smile. :D

Well,Abs....I hope with all my heart the Cards don't get Manny, either.;)

Adam Dunn signs two-year, $20M deal with Nats

I hate to see any player end up with the Nats.
That said, I just dono how Dunn, even with his power, is going to save Washington from living in the NL East cellar again this year.
Maybe the Nationals figure him to be valuable in a trade to bring in some prospects. The dude can hit for sure but his defense blows, he can't play the infield or the outfield all that well. Guess Adam wanted to play with his ole buddy Austin Kearns.

Sonny

Well the Phillies are doing what they do best in Spring: LOSE

And to think they are the World Series Champs :##:

Hey sweetheart, good to see you again. (*8*)

Well it's only spring training, a good time to try out things that may or may not work. A lot of irregulars get a shot to show what they have to offer.
I love the competition with guys trying to win spots on the team.

I think it's more important for the boys, especially the pitchers, to just have fun and get the mechanics right for opening day.

I know one thing for sure,
You, Sausy (God I miss him) :( and I along with a few other JUBers are going to have a lot of fun again this year following and rooting our teams on and razzin on one another. :D

Bowden got involved in that crap about the signing bonuses
He denied the allegations, but left the team anyways.
There is surely more to follow when the feds investigate whether baseball scouts and executives accepted kickbacks from bonuses that were originally promised to Latin American signees.

What happened to Screech, he lost a ton of weight

This is how i remember him

Yep...he got out of that one REAL smooth!

It was great not to hear an apology for just being real.
Not even the next day when I thought somethin might be said.
like some lame ass meaningless apology.
Just guys being guys, which is bound to happen on live TV ;)
