The Secret

"Three can keep a secret if two of them are dead."

I haven't seen Bobby and Joe, lately.....

Yes.

People will pay $40 to hear the same positive-thinking pep talk that's available everywhere else as long as you claim it's a "secret" and put it on a DVD.

>>>A coworker thought I needed it.

Like most self-help books/programs, if you don't think you need it, you obviously don't need it. :)

I don't mind the basic premise - I do think positive thinking can produce results. What I resent is the selling of the idea that some people dug through a bunch of lost manuscripts from Leonardo DaVinci and Alexander the Great and Maury Amsterdam to discover "the secret" of success. (And it'll cost ya $40 if you want to know what it is.) This is no secret. It's just hidden away in the place people never think of looking - books at the public library. Instead of ordering "The Secret" on DVD from Amazon, head to the library and check out The Power of Positive Thinking by Norman Vincent Peale. You save $40, you skip the crappy acting, and Norman doesn't pretend that wishing for a Corvette is a valid use of will-to-power.

Then again, maybe some people are willing to shell out $40 to hear that, yes, wishing for a Corvette is a valid use of will-to-power.
