...I thought the ending sucked, sure you can imagine what happend, but YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT REALLY HAPPEND... And aparently on the DvD when it comes out you can CHOOSE Which ending you want to see -_- Personally that completely ruined the whole series for me.

I didn't see much wrong with the ending. Most series finales are a letdown somehow anyway...you always expect them to be more and get disappointed.

Aww that's so sweet of you to say those awesome words!

I watch The Sopranos AND Desperate Housewives....

Sorry Sean But This "Fag" Didn't Watch The Sopranos Because I Don't Subscribe To HBO. :p

Thanks Orton For The Youtube Vid. I Am Only Now Catching Up On The Series On A&E - So The Fact That Tony Didn't Get Whacked Doesn't Ruin Much For Me. I Will Admit It Seemed Kind Of Pointless To End The Way It Did - Unless HBO Will Be Coming Back With A Soprano Special From Time To Time. But It Did Get Everyone Talking.

Aww you are watching it on A&E? I've seen every episode uncensored. It seems to me that the "language" and "nudity" are characters of the show. Even though A&E does a great job censoring. But at least you are catching up on a great show censored or not!

ending was peace of art. and the reason why americans dont't like the ending is because they are used to trash so they want a trashy stupid ending like on all other shows. The Sopranos are not like all other shows. That show is art and it need arty/european ending. Not stupid ending like on all other americans tv shows or movies.

The bottom line is that people like to bitch. If Tony got popped, people would have bitched. If he created his own protection plan and disappeared, people would have bitched. If he ewent to prison, people would have bitched. Some people just bitch too much, and the masses, for the most part, like crappy television like "Friends" and demand almost instant gratification. Whenever thought or patience are required with a television show, the people who like to bitch and hate to think start doing a lot more of the former. David Chase thought up a show, had the means to get it made and made it the way he wanted to make it. It had nothing to do with the people watching. Sorry to bruise those fragile egos. TV shows are not democracies; they're dictatorships. You don't have a say. You get what you're going to get. That's it. When the masses are listened to, stellar programming like 7th Heaven comes back for another year, only to wind up right back on the steaming turd pile where it always belonged. If you want something that will obey your commands and perform tricks for you, buy a dog. In the meantime, quit bitching.

The 1st season was amazing. Dynamic, smart, funny, fresh television.

Seasons 2, 3, and 4 were crap, baring "Pine Barrens". I think the writers/producers were still believing the hype from the first season. The whole Richie Aprile story, the russian woman with one lef, all that crap.

Season 5 was a return to form, nearly as good as season 1.

The first 12 episodes of season 6 were dreadful. The worst episodes ever. Self-indulgent, plotless, long-winded drivel.

The last 9 episodes of season 6 were brilliant. Things started to come together, characters sprung back into life. It was clever and funny again.

In conclusion: its been far too patchy to be called the "best TV show ever", but at its very very best it was superb.

Best show and best ending of all time period! Anyone who says other ways you just don't get it, so go ahead and complain you should of never been watching this show because obviously you never understood it.

The line is "you probably don't hear it when it happens." Bobby speaks it. There's nothing about fading to black.
Incidentally, the abrupt ending was a cut to black, not a fade.
A fade, in my opinion, would have implied the "life-goes-on" ending. The sudden cut to black is a hint that Tony might not make it out of the diner alive.
And, as if I had to say it, this was the greatest show in the history of television.

In the season's first episode, when Bobby and Tony were out on the lake, Bobby said something to the effect of "What's it like to die?" and Tony said something like, "I don't know, I think we just fade to black."
Cut to final episode. Tony at the diner, watching the door for Meadow, that trange customer lurking about - Tony looks up - we fade to black.

Tony is dead. Tony was whacked while seeing his daughter walk in. The black screen and silence signified his death. The guy who went in to the mans bathroom killed him in the head just like in GODFATHER! He was hiding gun their. So u must be smart and a fan of the show and the movie to see and understand the ending!

and I'm so fucking glad he ended that way. I'm glad we didn't see Tony dead

:=D:

And I Like Your Point About Watching It On A&E Too. But When It Is Either That Or Nothing At All . . . I Figure I Can Read Lips To Fill In The Blanks And As For The Nudity - I Assume It Was All Women - So It Is Something I Can Do Without Seeing.

I Heard (I don't know if it is true) There Was A Gay Character And Storyline On The Show - Still Haven't Gotten To Those Episodes.

As For The Ending Being Art. Perhaps It Is Just Me Being A Stupid American - But IMHO They Can Leave The Existentialist "Waiting For Godot" Endings For More Appropriate Venues. I Prefer My TV To Be Entertaining - And One Would Think An Excellent Drama Would End Dramatically.

Yeah I would do the same thing as you. If I didn't have HBO or for some reason I could not rent the dvds, I would watch it on A&E.

What a incredibly arrogant way of expressing your views: "If you didnt like it, you must be stupid".

Well, actually I'm not stupid, but that ending was pretentious crap. Maybe you cant see it because you're a Sopranos sycophant?

Tony is dead or in prison

AJ is head of family now. will he step up to the plate. yea he will and he knows he's soprano.

remember his parents bought him out with a BMW and his own nightclub. Buda Bing maybe

my prediction for a movie in about 6 years/

no sean pean ..i watch the sopranos and so do a lot of my friends

also I thought the ending was awful, the writer just could not come up with a good ending thus chose to just go to black.

for me this show lost its focus after adrianne died. tony's coma was a misguided attempt of trying to be something. and the plot just meandered. so i am somewhat glad that they chose to end the show.
