I'm glad the Soul Train Awards is alive again..But they need Big acts like Mariah, Whitney, Beyonce, Usher, Kanye, Rhianna every year..In recent years the Major Artists did not show up to present/accept their awards...It looked bad when the presenters would announce the "winners" in different categories and no one was there to pick up the award...

The Soul Train Awards was THE "Must-See-TV" Event in the 80's & 90's(in Most black homes), but when the Major artists stopped showing up the ratings went down..

I hope the producers revamped the Awards and don't settle for the same formula..

I am so glad they are tributing my girl Chaka Khan!!...I can not wait to see the tribute. I hope that the show is more organized then past shows where when they come back from commercial people are walking around, the host is standing there looking at the camera for a min saying nothing waiting for the que to continue from the producers.

Another award show? Why? No matter how good the intentions, do we really need this?

Most have no credibility (VMA/AMA) or relevance (Grammy). They shows are nothing more than a sales pitch by the bleeding music industry showcase the "artist" over and over.

I really enjoy watching those old episodes of Soul Train from the 70's.

Beyonce is just racking up all those awards this year isn't she.

I taped it last weekend and fast forwarded through a lot of it. The tributes to Charlie Wilson and Chaka Khan were really cool. I stopped to watch a little bit of the current artists and they were fine but easily no match for the old schoolers. The times have changed so I accept that. Toni Braxton still looks hot!
