As I have watched the news over the past months, I saw that the migrants being bussed to NY, DC, & Massachusetts were clearly a pawn in the national fight between the GOP and Democrats.

HOWEVER, I also believe BOTH parties have a really shit record on dodging immigration and getting real policy reform enacted. So, surprisingly, I support the exporting of the crisis away from the borders to the states that claim to welcome the immigrants. Personally, I'm for being much more welcoming and if the border states have had their fill, the rest of the nation should indeed not force the border states to bear the brunt of dealing with the influx.

All that said, this thread IS NOT about that topic, or even about politics per se.

It's about incongruous views, feelings, positions, or even experiences you may have that you feel make you a sort of contrast to a label. In my case, I'm generally progressive, and have never voted Republican, so feel uncomfortable agreeing with the governors in this scenario, even if I agree for reasons different than their motives.

Do you feel at odds with some label normally applied to you? Are you a cerebral sort but watch Championship Wrestling? Do you lead a solitary bachelor's life, but miss holding babies? Are you an animal lover, but love veal just the same? Are you gay but admire the family emphasis of Mormons in spite of their homophobic dogma? Are you a conservationist who nonetheless loves mimosa trees?

1. If border states want help from other states, there are better solutions than using human beings as tools for their political grandstanding. Shipping people unannounced to other locations is cruel and inhumane. But they don't really to do the work to find actual solutions, do they? They want this bullshit because it makes them look like heroes in the eyes of their asshole minions. They could have gotten the Governor's Association and the Administration together, put some effort into it, and actually formulated plans so people got real help, had places to go, and this worked smoothly and humanely. People who are coming here for a better life should not be treated like animals on a freight car just for political points.

2. If you are governor in a border state, dealing with migrants coming across the border is part of your job. Do your fucking job. If you don't want to deal with migrants coming across your border, go run for governor in Nebraska or someplace.

3. The people who complain the loudest about immigration, are the same people who reject and vote against immigration reform and every other solution. So fuck off, Abbott and DeNutsis and all you other fascist Xenophobes; because you don't want to solve the problem, all you want to do is close the border and build a wall that won't work. So no, I do not buy the "both parties" argument. The one party blocks every damn thing and then blames the other party for no legislation being passed.

4. Yes, immigration and the border is a mess and the Administration does need to get their act together and do something.

What is wrong with mimosa trees?

Mimosa trees are inconsistent with conservation because they are an invasive non-native. Their seeds sprout prolifically.

If the "damn job" of politicians is to take care of the people, I wonder what are to DeSantis those being "bussed" by him to MV, if they are not "people" whose wealth or, at least, vote, could be of any profit to him.
The Land of Opportunity must be in a truly miserable condition when the sort of "people" who made it great are being treated like a pest by those who bark out loud that they want to make it great again.
I also wonder what will they do when, like in Spain, after years and decades of yapping "why do not you take them to your own home", 'leftist' people start shouting "let us take them to our own homes".

I find myself to be somewhat of a traditionalist. If it ain't broke don't fix it type of person. However, we must acknowledge what is broke and perhaps think outside of the box for solutions. Good examples would be our health care system In the USA), prisons and schools.

Perhaps a national confidential, safe hot line for those who are thinking of doing harm to others would be a good idea. You wanna shoot your neighbor, boss or class mate? call this number.... if it stopped just one person from doing a mass killing it would be great.

I'm not really sure what this thread is about but immigration is not about immigration - it is about fear mongering - didn't you know they are coming for your job

now to give the topic a shot - my issue is with stiff criminal sentences - what they do is force next level criminal behavior - example is rape - in many cases rape (NOT sexual assualt) but flat out brutal rape gets a life sentence - thus the criminal will revert to murder to prevent a witness survivor - there is no difference in the sentencing... we need to be stiff on crime but it does elevate the level of criminal activity - did I get the topic right?

I am a die hard football junkie - I am also a RPDR junkie - they often have the same primetime airing time - I opt to watch the games on game night because I can watch Drag Race the next day on cable - is that the topic?

Your view of sentencing would be on topic if it is shared in contrast to what you would be assumed or appeared to believe because you are X or Y. For example, "I am a Texan, and we are assumed to be strict law and order people, but my view on sentencing is the opposite."

Or, if you think being a football fan means you're not in the target demographic for RuPaul, that would be exactly an uncoventional aspect of your identity. So, I think that is an excellent example.

What did you think was going to happen when YOU started the whole thread with two paragraphs about immigration? You cannot then just say, oh pretend I never said and then get pissed off when people comment on what YOU said about immigration. If you didn't want it to be about immigration, YOU should not have started it talking about immigration.

If you're suggesting that people cannot resist hijacking threads, then you're wrong.

But, your concern isn't with my reactions, as I haven't shown any anger in this thread. You, on the other hand, are entering my threads to disrupt and become angry, clearly evident in the posts.

If you don't like my posts, by all means don't read, but your harrying is against the CoC.

The thread is about posting uncoventional views in light of what might be perceived as your profile or persona. A gay man who loves to paper his room with sexy busty women pics would be an easy example.
