omg i love u. that was so funny with the chairs. does sheep have you on his ignore list too? i am sure u are now.all my problems have been hardware related either crap drivers or a hardware fault that is it
vista is much more stable than xp ever was you run lots of programs at once and you know it wont stop working and surprisingly we just installed it on a p4 3ghz and it run extremely well with the constant reports on how crap it is on older hardware i was expecting it to be crap and slow but it is much faster than the xp that was on there before and you get all the extra features
it is hardly microsofts fault that at launch many hardware manufacturers had not written drivers for vista dispite having beta's and rc's for the better part of a year probably longer and how quickly apple users forget the woes of incompatibility that OSX brought with it next time apple releases a .0 product look out
for mine the reason people are not upgrading is 2 fold
1) false information on performance
2)to big a gap between xp and vista's release everybody is so used to xp that they are afraid to change
xp is like this

Ive Never had Any problems With Vista..I love it...
i have been told that that is not possible by all the mac fanboys who have never touched it so it must be true all my problems have been hardware related either crap drivers or a hardware fault that is it

Actually, the hardware people say it is Microsoft's fault. They say Microsoft kept changing Vista over it's six year gestation period, constantly breaking the drivers they had developed up to whatever point. In fact, Microsoft kept changing the specs on Vista right up to the last minute of release, repeatedly undoing months of work on the part of the hardware people. Many said they just threw up their hands in frustration, and decided to wait to do any more driver development until after the final release of Vista. Many also said they were given so many dozens of final release dates for Vista over so many years that they finally stopped believing anything Microsoft promised, and decided to wait till after the final release had actually occurred, to resume development. SP1, evidently, will break a few more things.
Not really. Microsofts reputation wasn't really hurt except among the tech savvy crowd. People who see the Microsoft logo will still be more likely to buy from them instead of a third party company, except for Apple maybe. That's exactly right. I have a friend who works for a major hardware/software developer. They produced 20 different beta versions of drivers for Vista over a 2 year period, repeatedly having to re-work when Microsoft would suspend and change release dates and specifications. Eventually they stopped Vista development entirely until release.
Vista is a LOT more supported now than it was at release, but Microsoft only have themselves to blame for the shonky reputation it got at first. They have a lot of marketing work to do to rebuild consumer confidence in it.
fair enough but it is still in the past nowActually, the hardware people say it is Microsoft's fault. Your perspective is appreciated, but Microsoft says Vista is the fastest and best-selling OS in the company's history. Never in the history of the planet have so many people embraced an operating system as enthusiastically as they've been flocking to Vista.
fair enough but it is still in the past now
the fact that an article written over a year later has no newer arguments could be seen as a positive rather than negative those flaws are far behind us but people keep digging them up why aren't there any new problems to be brought up?
yeah but that is mainly due to new pc sales which is the case with most new os's and since the new pc market has grown dramatically that is to be expected
god even i had been drawn into the whole vista runs crap on all but the latest hardware bull crap spread around
That really doesn't mean much. They are still a meager competitor, and the only reason for it is because of the iPod.The point of the thread is proof that Microsoft knew all along what the outcome would be if released before it was ready. It is all coming to light now as internal documents were subpoenaed by the courts.
Perhaps it is becoming a moot point as numbers released Monday show Mac market share for February in the U.S. at 14% compared to 9% just 12 months earlier. It appears people are voting with their feet and wallets.
A more telling statistic compares overall PC growth, Macs in U.S. Retail 60% compared to computers as a whole 9%.
