Don't do anything until you have finished the class and have been given a grade.

After that, approach him on a friendship basis -- you are, after all, 21 or older -- and then see what develops.
 
Ay, this is very difficult. Since age/legality isn't really an issue, I'd wager that it may be a good idea to just go for it, as long as your sure he's interested. Perhaps you could ask him to work with you one-on-one on your French lessons, or just ask him to a café so that you can practice what you've learned.

Perhaps in a non-classroom setting, he'll be more approachable. Or he'll see you as more approachable.

Age may not be an issue, but the fact that he's your teacher is. That puts him in a position of "power" over you (much like if you were attracted to your boss), so it's a really bad idea to get involved so long as he's still teaching you.

At the end of August, give him a note (en Francais, bien sur) saying how much you loved working with him, and hoping he'll stay in touch. And finish by giving him your e-mail address and phone number.

...then the ball's in his court.

it's surprising how much i could make out out of that french from latin. i guess it was helpful after all.
i'd say wait until he'snot your teacher anymore... but you might not be able to contact him then... i don't know for sure.

Precisely. Perhaps get a "thank you" card (one without hearts and flowers on it, probably) for him, and write your contact info in there. Then seal it up and hand it to him on your last day, with a "Thanks so much for working with me this term." That's it.

I've actually got the same problem right now with my very cute, and hot, statistics teacher. The catch...he's 31 and I'm 23.
 
Same steps, therm. Finish the course, give him a card. "I can say with a 99.5% confidence interval that you were a great teacher!"
