I have been thinking about this for a few years now but have decided I need to do it!
I'm a fully qualified electrician in Scotland and was wondering what part would be the best for me? Anybody got any suggestions?

Where you go depends a fair bit on your own preferances, the main gay populations would be in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver, in terms of building booms where an electrician may find work easily you might think about Alberta, Calgary or Edmonton, Take a vacation to Canada first and marry a nice Canadian boy, that would give you prefered status, lol. For formal information re: emigrating check out http://www.cic.gc.ca or just search Canada nominee immigration program and check where being an electrician would be most helpful for emmigrating. Hope this helps and welcome to Canada when you come.

Whatever you do, avoid the Maritimes (Nova Scotia, New Brunswick) like the plague. I spent two and half of the loneliest years of my life there.

and i agree on Montreal too
gay life i great
u will need to learn a bit of french, but u can do it in english as well but most of the gay poplation is french (bilunguial) and gay marriage is allowed here so if u find ur mate ....

I was going to say you must be mad, but then I saw you live in Scotland! Wherever you end up, the very best of luck. ;)

Yes, come visit first. I'm by Toronto And am an apprentice electrician too. Lotsa work here. They are just begging for skilled workers here. Montreal is great, and so is the west coast. Really the choice is yours. And not a lot of homophobia here. Everyone is pretty accepting. Gay families are common here too if you want to be a daddy.

I remember your pics. You should move to Germany O:-)

And to be of more help: have you informed yourself about the requirements for work in canada? special regulations/certifications for working as an electrician?

thanks for the advice, ive decided to get a years working visa to start with then see how it goes. i like the sound of vancouver. just need to finish my house so i can rent it out then go :-)
