so i finally decided its time to buy myself a new tv.........still have a tube now, nothing wrong with it, but dammit I WANT HD!! haha........now i work in the electronics dept @ target so i'm not totally stupid with this stuff but i want opinions from people other than the ones i work with lol........what would YOU buy??........i don't need anything bigger than a 32" and from what i know and have read samsung and lg seem to be up there as far as ratings go but i do like sony and vizio.......any suggestions or info would be greatly appreciated.....thank you everyone in advance! :D

I know someone who has nearly one television in every room in his house and they are all Sonys. He swears by them.

Don't buy plasma. Stick with HD. Plasma screens only last about 5 years and are way more expensive. In the specs, look for at least 1080p and the highest megahertz you can get. They determine the refresh rate of the screen. Most of these TV's are now on par with each other and have near identical warranties. Sony is a good brand but know that you are also paying more for the Sony name. I see a lot of Vizio's in commercial establishments which tells me they are reliable. Businesses want something that will last and is cost effective. I've seen other brands like Samsung and Panasonic that are just as beautiful as Sony or Vizio. I would stay away from off-brands and brands that are unknown. If you plan to hang the TV on the wall, you'll also need to buy a mount that will fit the TV.

I have a 56" Samsung LED. It has an amazing picture. Some stores have a dual screen LCD/LED so you can compare. I've seen them at Walmart. I'd definitely recommend the LED, they're a little more pricey but I think it's worth it.

I used to swear by Sony and the only reason I bought one (52" LED) is because best buy had a massive sale on it. I do have an old Samsung 32" 720p in my bedroom also.

I think now with many of the brands having similar qualities, there is little difference. The only thing I would be weary of is if you are gonna mount your TV as many TVs do not come with a wall mount.

I have 2 Vizios a 32" and a 42". They've been fine. Vizio buys it's parts from the big boys and builds their TVs from their parts. Their tuners are made by LG. That's all I was able to find out about which parts are made by who.

Sony and Panasonic use Samsung to build their TVs.

I'd buy by type and number of inputs and price.

Samsung 32" LCD or LED HD 1080p
Cheap...
Cheerfull....
and great value for money.
They make great TVs, don't bother with Sony in my opion, you can get a cheaper samsung with the same spec. Samsung, Sony..... all made in tiwan...

My opinion go with either samsung or vizio. Vizio does tend have higher end quality when it comes to competition. Just have to look at the prices for the 32' models
:-)

TOTALLY forgot i started this thread haha.....

anyway.....thank you everyone for your input unfortunately now i have to wait a little longer due to an unforseen dental bill lol but i do have a better idea of what im looking for now....so THANK YOU!!! :D
