  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

this guy has some HUGE balls.

just more racism not existing anymore in America
Did we not know that?

Not much of a stretch to expect a different reaction in "the most racist town in America". If there was a point to this stunt other than getting attention on social media please educate me.

There are plenty of better, more positive, more effective ways for him to use the strength of those big balls.

Did WE? Yes. Do a lot of people? No.

A lot of people don't think places like this still exist. AHEM. "It's over, it's the past, stop playing victim, nobody hates you cuz you're black, everything is equal."
These people are teachers and judges and cops and business owners, what happens when they're in charge of a brown child's education or freedom or job application? We're supposed to give them the benefit of the doubt that they'll put aside their hatred and bias to be fair and supportive of minorities? GURL!

I can't answer for his motivation, I can only affirm that until we eradicate racism exposing it as much as possible is never the wrong thing to do. This guy could be a target for the rest of his life over "this stunt." He got death threats. He's done a lot more in this one clip to dismantle racism than some people have done their whole lives. Just calling it out is an act of defiance, because, as you can tell to the reactions to my threads here, we're not supposed to.

Such as? Give some personal examples. How do you use your big cojones to fight bigotry? And if you say "I treat everyone equally" I'm throwing my phone against the wall.

It is good to expose racism and hate where ever it is.
10s across the board

This. Completely this.

And this.

If this video doesn’t make you mad, you’re as much the problem as they are.

Fair enough. But I still think he chose too easy a target. These people aren't going to change. Places like this have always been racist and always will. There's a good chance America won't survive long enough to defeat racism and in this moment, that is the issue.

Republican gains this November will be a slippery slope right down to where hate becomes sanctioned and racism becomes policy. If he had taken this sign to a school yard in an attempt to sway what are likely the only impressionable minds left in that town, that would have taken even bigger balls and might have even changed a young mind or two.

An informative video about this town with some interviews with these foul people would have gotten his message out more directly and in a much less self-aggrandizing fashion. I've seen too many videos with people holding signs up in absurdly inappropriate places for comedic value, and this seems a little too close to that for my comfort.

Do you really think that old fuck in that car can be turned? Can any of them? If someone held up white power signs in a black neighborhood how many people there do you think would stop and say "Hmmmm. . . "

But the next town over? Where the demographics aren't so so hopelessly set in stone? That might make more of a difference. Better yet, he could have researched towns with low voter turnout or non-registered citizens and gone there.

The fighting tactics of the oppressed should never rest but for God's sake right now we are on the cusp of something really terrible and I think we should be devoting every bit of our energy right now to make sure that doesn't happen. We will still be fighting the same fight in a month from now but the rules and stakes might be radically different.

Nineteen days. This is the moment. He's holding a mirror up to these idiots when he should be smashing them over the head with it, but if he gets a shitload of likes and followers then I guess it was all worth it.

I guess Peloso's point is something like "once the beast has been publicly exposed and stirred, what next?".

Public exposure is more than enough, anything he does henceforth is overtime. He's already made himself a target possibly for the rest of his life. That's enough for me, and more than 100 of his peers will ever do. This problem is bigger than any one person.

This is always the response when someone does the right thing in America.. "But are they doing it for the right reason?!" and then "Are they using the right methods?!" if you're not an activist yourself I can't see how you have any room to criticize or direct him. Your non-solution of imaginary retaliatory violence kinda proves that you really aren't taking this seriously. But go ahead, no one's stopping you from pretending to beat them up.

So now we are talking martyrdom.

This guy should of not done that and instead just stay home

My solution was not to engage in imaginary violence, my solution was to vote. But I re-read my post (did you?) and realized that a little too much of my motivation for responding is based on my ongoing disgust of internet culture and not the direct implications of what this kid did, so I apologize for that.

Beyond that, I still stand by what I said.
