It's the crack sandwich for me.
They skewered EVERY LAST ONE OF HIS TROPES: the evil dark-skinned abusive husband, the tacky wigs, the repetitive, rushed scripts catering to the lowest common denominator, the fact that black people support him at a base level "because he's black" and not because he's actually putting out quality content.
The funny part is they're kinda exposing how slow Tyler Perry fans are. "Mr Chocolate" greeted Van with "Hellurrrrrr" (Madea's signature greeting) and Van threw grits on him, another Perry signature, and yet Tyler's fans are like "dO yOu ThInK tHiS ePiSoDe Is AbOuT tYlEr PeRrY?" Someone wrote on twitter "this lowkey shade...." LOWKEY? Yeah, this episode was about as subtle as a hammer to the face! It couldn't have been more obvious if Mr Chocolate's name was Shmyler Sperry.
The writing was so forward-thinking they preemptively struck back at the inevitable counter-argument "He's giving lots of black people jobs." So did dope dealers, if the end justifies the means. Tyler Perry, the most successful chitlin circuit since 1900s Mason Dixie.
