So after this coming week, I'm on three-day weekends until Christmas.

Deep joy.

To be honest, I'd rather be at work. But they insist you have to take your full holiday allowance each year, and I've hardly taken any.

So now I have to think up stuff to do.

Any thoughts?

I would say go to Bristol and visit the "Deviant" but it is my taste and maybe not yours !

I don't know when I last took a week's vacation--- I love to take three day weekends instead. But I think I'm easier to please than you. I love to sleep in, read, go shopping... I don't need an agenda. I hope you enjoy your time off!

Go shoplifting for fun. That's what I do these days now that i've ditched the booze and the drugs, it's the only real buzz I get, plus you can get some really great stuff if you don't get caught.

We don't get paid for unspent holiday, nor are we allowed to carry any over - there is a move afoot to change that, but if it happens it won't take effect until next year.

They claim it screws up their accounting system if you don't take it, so anyone who still has more than a certain amount unbooked at the end of October gets a slightly embarrassing interview with the MD.

Sadly, for me, time off work generally equates to time spent sat at home being bored - the last time I had a significant amount of time off work, I didn't leave the house for ten days.

So I do really want ideas for what to do here. I haven't got a bloody clue...

If your situation lets you afford travel and lodging in another city (or possibly even outside of the UK), and if you're allowed to group your unused days together, go for it! You can completely choose your agenda, and the getaway should be a good thing. I can't suggest anything specific, because you haven't really said what your interests are. How about a travel TOUR, where you would be with a group of people seeing the sights perhaps in Scotland or Prague or elsewhere? Be prepared to have people approach you and want to chat, or be prepared that you may even surprise yourself and find that you want to start a conversation. There is no guarantee that you'll not experience some kind of rejection by somebody, but something like a paid tour is expensive enough that "riff-raff" (who may have ulterior motives or scams in mind) generally won't be on the trip.

Of course I don't know if tours are your thing at all, but there are many places in the world where the scenery is absolutely breathtaking. What is the furthest from home you've ever traveled? Have you ever seen mountains? I trust that there is something (THAT YOU CAN ENJOY) that you can do with those days, WK.

It's good to see you posting again, after a rather long hiatus. Please figure out something that you would like to do, and JUST DO IT. After all, you've earned it.
