I love the album, but is it really the "GREATEST" album of all time,
i listen to "LIKE A VIRGIN" more than "THRILLER", jus wondering

fav tracks:

Wanna be startin somthing
Baby be mine
thriller
Billie jean
beat it

dunno 'bout 'the greatest ever', but 'thriller' owns 'virgin'.. 'virgin' doesn't even make the top 100..

It's #2 in all-time US sales (Behind Eagles Greatest Hits) and was the first album to chart seven Top 10 hit singles. While not my fav album of all time, those are certainly lofty standards for comparison.

Quite embarrassed to admit that I did once admire MJ, Thriller is not the album of his that thrilled me. I prefered Bad, although I did not like the track - Bad.

Good songs from Bad:
Dirty Diana
I Just Can't Stop Loving You
Leave Me Alone (Bonus)
Liberian Girl
Smooth Criminal
Another Part of Me
Man In The Mirror

I prefer Like A Virgin to Thriller anytime.

I half agree with starlight70. I am not embarrassed to admit, I am still an MJ fan (come on--if you stopped listening to every artist who was accused of doing horrible things, who would you still be listening to?). But, I wouldn't say that Thriller is his best album, much less the best album of all time.

Alanis Morissette's "Jagged Little Pill" is the greatest for me.

Followed by Guns N' Roses - Use Your Illusion 2; Roxette - Joyride; Disturbed - The Sickness; Aerosmith - Get A Grip; Iron Maiden - Somewhere In Time

Thriller, Whitney Huston, The Eagles Greatest Hits, Frampton Live, Nevermind (for it's impact on 90's music), Rumours and Dark Side of the Moon are probably the most influential and greatest albums of all time...

Yes now Jacko is eeeewwwww!! But in back then he really was the "King of Pop"!! Yes, Like a Virgin was pretty awesome - then...but I really don't consider it among music's greatest offerings regardless of its obvious commerical success....

I'd say Dark Side of the Moon. Pink Floyd's music is timeless. You can listen to it today and it still doesn't sound old.

My all-time favorite: Elton John's "Captain Fantastic and the Brown-Dirt Cowboy".

"Thriller" is never really called the BEST album all time. It's the Best-SELLING album. As far as critical acclaim, it's not even Michael's most raved album.

I totally agree. I like "Bad" much better than "Thriller".

I can honestly tell you that I don't think Thriller or Like A Virgin are in the "Greatest" catagory but Thriller is a damned good pop/R&B album. In fact, I think it's stood the test of time a hell of a lot better than Like A Virgin. Somehow R&B ages better than pop does... but that's just my 2 cents. ;)

I'm not sure " the greatest album ever made" should have been the question. Cause that's an opinion. Is Thriller really the biggest selling album of all time?

Bad is MJ's best album. Thriller had some INCREDIBLE tracks, but BAD was the better album.

Having said that, either Stevie Wonders Innervisions or Songs In the Key of Life is the best album ever recorded. Nobody can touch Stevies work from the 70's.

its not one of my favs but i do love a couple of the sings on it. i don't think i could pick a fav album. there's just too many i couldn't live without.

Are you serious?

For me, the answer is a VERY emphatic "No way!!"
