There has been a lot of talk about Timbaland's credibility as a producer. A lot of people, especially Scott Storch, have implied that he has been stealing beats and not giving those who created them proper credit or royalties.

Now I for one don't really care as long as the music is good, but I don't agree with flat out stealing. Sampling is one thing but to so blatantly take something and not give credit is kind of sad.

While I don't 100% know if he has ever given credit, asked permission, or given royalties to those who originally made the tracks, I definitely look at Timbaland in a whole new way[-X

I like Timbaland. His signature style was very similar to my own when I first began doing music, minus the sampling because I didn't know how to do that. 90% of the producers in the industry sample. It's nothing new. The only thing Timbaland is guilty of is not crediting and paying royalties to all those middle eastern artists. I think he figured no one would ever know.

I haven't lost any respect for him, but yeah, it is wrong.

WOW..............I always knew something was up with his music. I mean, I LOVED his style of music, there always something there that no other producer could condure. I guess now we know why.

Thanks for the rather rude awakening.

I LOVE Aaliyah, R.i.P baby girl.

Precisely. Its nothing new. He should give them credit and royalties for the samples, but the thing Ive always loved about Tims music anyway is his percussion. Nobody except Kanye is touching his drums. And thats what was best about these songs, the percussion. He could have been worse and done like puff daddy and used the exact same arrangements as the original artists and just added new vocals on top.

But otherwise I gotta yawn at this. Hip Hop started with dope samples of disco hits, including Rappers Delight that basically jacked the entire beat from a disco song. It's part of Hip Hop to borrow from the past and put your own stamp on it, but he should be sending some royalties to those artists.

That's funny. I remember years ago, people were stealing beats from Tim. There's a Missy Elliott song called Beat Biters from her second album that was about this.

wow great links man!

terribly disappointed in/with Timbaland after hearing just how badly he jacked these tracks!

I've always admired his ability to have a unique sound and seem to have a style that seemed to span the globe. Now i know that he's literally spanned the globe, lol. I'd be interested if Timbaland would ever publicly comment to the blatant stealing of these tracks and profiting from them--which is even more reprehensible.

anyways, the one good thing was being reminded just how fine Aaliyah was (RIP). Damn was she beautiful.

I Miss Aaliyah so much....it has gotten to the point where I can't even listen to her music anymore because it just makes me sad

I can only imagine what music would be like today if the greats were still around. Would hip hop be such a mess if Biggie were here? Would R&B be so flat and simple if Aaliyah hadn't died in that crash?

I mean....I like a lot of the music in today's R&B....but the popular stuff that is being classified as such (Beyonce, Rihanna) is so manufactured....Aaliyah was something else, and I doubt the world will see somebody like her that was as popular as she was for a long time.

oh....I totally didn't know where you were going with that hahaha

But I'm in the know now! ..|

What I really want to know is....who is going to be able to top the unbeatable force that Timbaland has created?

Timbo, JT, Nelly Furtado, and Keri Hilson have dominated the past year +

With Timbaland working with everybody including the Pussycat Dolls, and hopefully Rihanna and Lil' Kim when she drops her album, its really starting to bring back a unity in music that was extremely present in the mid 90s. and then kind of disappeared around 2000, and then completely vanished after 50 Cent came along!

2007 has been an awesome year for music, and with everyboyd making comebacks this year and everybody seeming to be getting along, its all love and i love it!

Who in the blue hell is Keri Hilson and what exactly has she dominated? :D lol. I've never heard of her before, but if she's working with Tim I'll def. give her a listen!

She's more of a song writer than an actual artist.

But if you have Tim's Shock Value she is on like half of the tracks.

But she has written a TON of hit songs, here are a few....

Icebox - Omarion
Wait A Minute - PCD
Runaway Love - Ludacris
Redlight - Usher
Hey Now - Xzibit

She sings Miscommunication, Way I Are, and Scream on Timbaland's Shock Value, and I wouldn't be surprised if she wrote the whole album
