Hey,

I just discovered a tiny lump in my anus while showering and wanted to hear if anyone has any idea what it might be.

It´s within the anus but before the muscle ring inside it. It is about as big as a lentil/ small pea and moves freely within a certain area, so it´s not attached to the muscle. Feels firm, not hot, no discharge or anything. Also no swelling and it is not visible to the eye. I just found it by chance while showering, no pain while going to the toilet, unusual stool or anything else. I am 27 by the way and din´t have anal intercourse recently (sadly).

My course of action will now be to monitor it for 2-3 days if it changes in any way and than see a Doc.

Now just out of curiosity I want to know if anyone has any idea/ had something like that himself? Yeah I googled and found everything from hemmorhoids, cancer, abscess and so on but about 80% doesn´t match with the symptoms.

Hemmoroid. A blood vessel. Not a problem, but they can become inflammed and painful. I suggest you google it and see a Doctor if you are not satisfied.

I would say anal warts .. especially since you are talking about it being lentil sized. But it being movable points more towards a hemmoroid. Maybe you can check it with a mirror?

Didn´t see anything in the mirror and as I said it´s not on the anus but in it (under the skin but over the musle while not firmly attached to the muscle) From what I read anal warts should be on the skin?

really sounds like an internal hemorrhoid. they can be either internal or external and aren't always painful. I've had several actually. try some "sitz" baths and get the water in the tub fairly hot. you can put some epsom salt in the water if you want. soak for about 20 minutes a couple of times a day. don't sit on the toilet any longer than you have to and avoid any anal play. if it starts to cause you pain, gets larger or isn't improving follow up with your doctor.

Steven.

Thanks for the advice, I guess a bath is a good idea.....damn that thing is going on my nerves now that I discovered it :-P

YW. the sitz baths helped me a lot. get in the bath and basically squat down so your butt is in the water. Then turn the hot water on and get the water as hot as you can handle. Obviously don't burn yourself but you want the water hot, not just warm. don't strain on the toilet and increase your fiber intake. Drink a lot of water. You can try some of the Preparation H type ointments as well. If it's worry some or doesn't get better don't be embarrassed to see your doctor. Many many people get hemorrhoids or have problems that are sensitive. The doctor went to medical school to help people and you have nothing to be embarrassed about.

The sitz baths etc are if it becomes painful and inflamed. They wiil not have an effect now, and it will not go away. At the first feelind od irritation, use a lubricant or Preparation H to keep it from getting worse.

Yeah they should be, but they can be almost invisible. I have read somewhere that a vinegar solution makes them appear white. However I doubt that is a good idea to use that that "deep" inside ..

I am 99.9% sure its not on the skin but under it, and yeah vinegar doesn´t sound like a good idea

So far nothing changed, no pain or anything, not bigger, no temperature.....

i suppose it's Hemmoroid. i had it a few weeks ago. at first i just felt a small pain on my anus had no idea what it is and later i noticed a tiny lump. i used a special cream for Hemmoroid which created a warmth on my anus for a few days. after 3 days i didn't feel any pain but still could touch the lump. stopped using the cream and i think it is disappearing from day to day. i feel pretty fine now.

just check it out daily and if you feel any pain or changes size or anything visit a urologist. it might also disappear by itself in a few days.

If you feel a little irritation there, lubricate it to prevent it from getting inflammed.

Dear Aymotin,

I'm 90% sure what you have is a skin tag. You can happen for a number of reasons, but they are mostly a consequence of a healed hemmorhoid, or they can be due to a anal fisure (which doesn't necessarily need to manifest itself very ofte ie doesn't hurt). A gastroenterologist or a proctologist could remove it very easily if it bothers you (for cosmetic reasons, for exemple). They simply "cut" it, and this can be done during a normal visit (no need to go though surgery or anything of the kind). If it's due to an anal fissure and totally attached to it, you can't have it remove unless you undergo surgery, whcih will remove the whole fissure. You might want to consider this if it starts bothering you ( it could become chronic). But a proctologist should be able to tell you more about this. I hope this helps!

After monitoring this for a while I made an appointment with the gastroenterologist. By now I am pretty sure that it is a Lipoma and I want it to be checked out before I deploy back to work.

Will post the definitive diagnose.

So according to the Doc it´s most likely a tiny venous thrombosis and nothing needs to be done about it.
After endoscopic check it´s 100% sure that it´s not hemmoroids or anything else that needs attention.

I don´t know how straight people take that examination though  that Doc was as "german" as one can be  I feel that my patients are very lucky with me.
