The summer season is approaching, and way, way too fast.

My partner of 21 years and I have decided that we must stay in Colorado until Grandma is gone. But she keeps bouncing back, and after three and a half years of this, there is no end in sight to her continued care.

Her money has run out and all I have left is the equity in her house, and there is already about 35K in demands against it.

We have made the decision we'd like to move to Colorado permanently, and this house, although modest, suits us just fine. It is cheap living, comfortable, and would allow us to regroup after him losing his Mother last summer, and just take a deep breath.

But it is more complicated than that.

The summer season in Upper Michigan is very, very short. We need to do something with the 'stuff' in 'our' house, which besides our 'stuff' consists of over 100 years of his family 'stuff'...okay, closer to 140 years. The lot has been in the family since 1871, the old house is still in the back yard (the 'barn'), the existing house has been continuously occupied since 1910 or so.

Then we have to deal with his Mom's house, and deal with his two sisters which are older than her and have never dealt with this sort of thing before.

Then there's the house in Colorado. I THINK we can save it from the creditors, but that involves my partner buying part of it. And with summer coming, who is going to mow the lawn, weed the garden, etc., while we are back in Michigan? Grandma had a lawn service but it is expensive, and I can certainly run a lawnmower. With no income, no liquid capital, it is getting more and more interesting by the day.

I think I'll have another beer. :D
