Torchwood coming to America!

I'm thrilled. John Barrowman is soo cute.

I guess in season 2 of Torchwood, Martha Jones is around for the first half of the season.

Since BBC America is airing the show in the US finally, I would imagine a DVD release can't be too far behind.

My biggest concern with BBC AMerica airing Torchwood is they are going to have to heavily edit it because of all the cursing and sexual content, which would make watching the show less fun in my opinion.

As far as Martha Jones goes, she's in 3 episodes of Torchwood season 2

in australia the ABC re-aired the torchwood ep of the klast season of Dr Who, just as Channel ten showed Torchwood. nothing susssssssssss

Correct me if I'm wrong, but since BBC America is a speciality channel and requires a subscription...Aren't they allowed to get around the FCC's guidelines? Ala HBO and Showtime?

What did you guys think? I liked it.

(the first episode aired last night here in the states)

I liked it. I sat there and watched Torchwood, Graham Norton featuring David Tennant, and Doctor Who in a row (can't remember what order), and could not stop laughing, especially during Graham Norton (which I never watch, so I don't realize how funny the show is).

That Graham Norton episode last night with David Tennant was hysterical! Especially the part where they were talking about the Tardis.

For those of you who didn't watch, Graham was talking about going to a Dr. Who convention and being disappointed when he went inside the Tardis and saw it was just a box.

Then they said something like...
David Tennant: That's because you haven't been inside the right one! Come to Cardiff and I'll show you my box.
Graham: And I'll 'come' inside!

Maybe an old joke, but I thought it was funny and cute the way they said it.

Haha, yeah. That episode had my chest hurting, I was laughing so much. I loved the photoshoot for the Doctor to send the guy who wrote back about the personal ad in Gloryhole.

I saw that as well. Graham is good in small doses I think. Who was the older woman on the show? Or was it a man in drag, I'm not sure? Telling the story about the bus driver that wouldn't stop in India and the sleeping bag! That is something I would never tell anyone if it happened to me!

"Hello! It's the Doctor, you've had your chance and you blew it" - David's so funny!

Did they show the bit when they had the TARDIS outside and they rang the phone so the guy went inside and he missed his bus (served him right for not knowing what a TARDIS was!)

The woman on the show was Jo Brand, who is a british comedian

BBC America has said the premiere of Torchwood on the channel delivered the biggest audience of any drama premiere in the 58-million-subscriber network's history.

The series, shown at 9pm Eastern Time on Saturday nights, attracted 496,000 total viewers, according to network officials.

In the target demographic of persons ages 25 to 54, the premier got 297,000 viewers. That's slightly ahead of how action drama Robin Hood performed when it premiered last year, at about the same rating (0.42). Viewer numbers were higher for Torchwood than Robin Hood because BBCAmerica is in more homes now.

A second airing, at midnight ET and 9 p.m. PT Saturday, delivered a 0.19 rating (139,000 viewers) in the target demographic, or 241,000 viewers overall.

Figures cited are live viewing and same-day viewing, which adds in a day’s worth of digitally recorded watching.

Meanwhile the series has received some very good reviews in the US press.

The Hollywood Reporter called the series "a crackling good, brilliantly conceived sci-fi series that targets actual grownups" while the Los Angeles Times described the show as "indescribably delicious".

TV Guide said the programme was a "a cheeky and often startlingly adult spin-off" and Variety said it has the fixings of a thinking-man's sci-fi series that doesn't take itself too seriously.

The Kansas City Star says the programme is "one of the best serial dramas to arrive on American television in 2007" and The Philadelphia Inquirer describes it as "by turns super-slick, raw, bizarre, hilarious, spooky, scary and sublimely sexy".

The Pittsburgh Post Gazette calls Torchwood "an adult sci-fi show with a sense of humor", The Seattle Post Intelligencer calls it "a thrilling spinoff" and The San Jose Mercury News says the series is "an imaginative, wickedly funny spinoff from the revived and revitalized Doctor Who".
