This is just the beginning. Wait until Ryan White needs refunding, oh boy the program is going to be crushed if not eliminated. That means a hell of a lot of people that qualify for the program those working and not making much and those on ADAP which is way under funded better get ready. The HIV organizations are sweating as funding is lacking every year of course. This Ryan funding is vital for medical treatment for thousands and thousands who lack health insurance or any means to pay $2.500 - $5,000+ a month for medications. All it will take is for people to not be able to have access to medical treatment and medications and bingo all those non-detectable viral loads go back to full blown AIDS within a short time.
These are the type of programs that are easy to cut because of the nature of the disease, who it targets, and the cost of treatment. Including the religious right which applaud the killing of these programs.
Its like raising the taxes on cigarettes and booze. The public really doesn't a shit. But they could if AIDS roars back to 1994 levels. The peak death from AIDS was not in the 1980's but the middle 1990's a decade later.
