In the past, my partner and I would totally commit to the 12 days of Christmas.

There would be a special dinner party every third night after a big Christmas dinner, with a special 12th night extra special party.

Lots of food and drink and fun.

There would be a small and fun gift for one another each day.

Post Covid, this is all in the past it seems and our 12 days are now spent more quietly as we have both added unwanted years and subtracted the health and enthusiasm we all enjoyed then.

Does anyone else celebrate the whole Chritmas season?

I'm having a small gathering in the afternoon on New Year's Eve and another on the Jan 10.
I don't take down my tree and decorations until the end of January.
I have more time to do all the Christmas stuff I want to do after Christmas day.

Not at all, not even on the day itself. Sweetheart puts up coloured lights, but that's just coz he really likes coloured lights.
Why would we celebrate the imaginary birthday of someone from a work of fiction?
 
These days, given social isolation, one day of Christmas is bad enough. Screw stetching the misery over 12 fucking days.

I (surprisingly, perhaps) only learned of the 12 days idea about a few years ago, after a Christmas Day church service. I complained to a former pastor of my Christmas hell, only for him to tell me it ain't over. Words cannot express how I felt that moment.

Come to think of it... That pastor pushed me to join that church. I wonder if my resistance wasn't partly fueled by the thought of 12 days of Christmas BS every year?
 
I’d happily celebrate 12 days if only Christmas started on the December 24th and not Thanksgiving or now even the day after Halloween.
 
Prime Rib was always on the 28th, our Christmas dinner with neighbours.

We stopped during Covid and then shifted our get together in March for St. Pad's.

Maybe we'll do that again this year.
 
Even if I had enough people to invite for 12 different parties... I wouldn't
