ok, so i may make a lot of enemies on this post...but here goes.
I just finished reading twilight, as one of my best friends, shannon recommended...no, forced me to, as we're going to see the movie when it comes out in a few weeks.
comments:
1 - i seriously need people to recommend some amazing female authors to me, as I can't name a single one that i love.
reasons include: they seem to feel the need to try and pretend they have a greater vocabulary than they do...in this book for example, there's like one or 2 words per chapter that BLATANTLY stand out to the point that i honestly believe she stopped writing, picked up a thesaurus, and looked for a 'smart sounding' word to use.
2 - hopefully the movie will be less lame...but seriously, the book was like a PG harlequin romance that happened to have a vampire in it, who fell for the awkward shy girl, and he's the perfect bf, blah blah blah...oh yeah vampire, oh yeah...and parts where there could be action, or whatever are brushed over, to go on about how she loves edward, or can't believe he likes her, or 'oh yeah, he's a vampire...here's how that can complicate it" and i'll die for you and you'll die for me.
3 - how many fucking times does she have to mention 'twilight' in reference to the time of day in the novel before it has ANY significance other than its the title, and brought up every goddamn chapter in the stupid book!?
ok. rant over. i'm debating whether or not to read the rest of the series...luckily, it doesn't take me long to breeze through these, and the only reason i'm considering it is because i didn't have any interest in harry potter at all until the 3rd movie, and didn't like the books until the 5th
anyone else on this?
