Two dumb PayPal questions

There is a CD I would like to buy. It is available only online and can be purchased with my Visa, but only through PayPal.

I tried to answer my questions by doing some research, but I'm confused beyond trying to figure it out.

1 - The distribution company selling and shipping the CD has a PayPal account. I don't. Do I need an account as well?

2 - In case I need an account, I checked into the various PayPal accounts. There is a 'Basic' account (purchase only, no fees), but it doesn't allow the usage of credit cards. There is also a 'Premium' account (fees for selling, no fees for buying) which allows credit card usage, but it appears to be more for people who buy and sell on Ebay and I'm not so keen on opening such an account for only 1 CD.

If I were to get a 'basic' account, is there a way to buy the CD?

Get the basic account. It won't cost YOU one penny to buy online......NOT A CENT.
I've been using Paypal for years.......it's a good thing to have because you WILL need it again.

I've never needed it until now.

I'll have a go at buying the CD. It took me to a page where I would fill out my information, including credit card number, but I backed out and started looking into PayPal because there was a PayPal log-in area included to the right of the page.

I use paypal alot, very usefull when buying of ebay, very fast payments

Just don't deposit large sums on your PayPal account, in case it gets hacked or deleted.

I've a basic account and only use it occasionally. Payment is instantaneous straight out of your bank account, and PP acts as an intermediary so whoever you're paying to doesn't get your bank details.

When I tried depositing a sum in the PP account, it took quite a while. I've not done that again.

My PayPal used to be Basic, but then it upgraded automatically when I used it to sell a few things on eBay.

I use PayPal to purchase things so often, it'd be a curse to be without it! It's perfectly fine! I wouldn't worry about it!

I'm not worried about it. I found the CD even cheaper at Amazon.ca. It's on it's way.

(Sort of a Christmas present to myself. They're the only ones I get now.)

i never deposit money into my paypal account i just use it to make immediate purchases.

PayPal is great. I've used it for years online.

They will deduct the money directly from your checking account unless you choose credit during the purchase. Then you'll need a card on file with them.

Listing a bank account with them makes you verified and the transactions go through smoother. Especially on the seller's end.

I never deposit money with them in advance. I don't buy enough to bother with that and I've never sold anything.

Not only did I find it, my order was ordered last Wednesday (Dec. 9), processed and mailed out from Toronto on Thursday, arrived in Peterborough Thursday night, and was delivered sometime Friday evening. I found the package outside the front door early this morning.

I was rather impressed.

Oh, and I just checked to see if the same CD was available through Amazon.com (I ordered from Amazon.ca) and it was. . . for $7 more.
