I just about fell outta my chair last night. On the radio from Chicago, Ill. was the 1964 recording of, "You're My World", by Cilla Black.

Only it wasn't Cilla Black!

It was actually a clip from the 2014 TV Mini Series, "Cilla", starring the wonderful actress, Sheridan Smith in the role of Cilla Black.


OK, UK; do I have the correct story? Because this is the most extraordinary video clip I've seen in a long time!
We start with Sheridan Smith in 2014?, then switch to Cilla Smith on the 1964 TV special, "Around the Beatles".




YES - I found it. The 1964 "Around the Beatles" is on YouTube!

Cilla Black sings at 30:45.

 
There's also a very full-throated version by Tom Jones which doesn't get played much.

Apparently there was also to have been a stage musical. Not sure if it went ahead after Covid-19 hit the theatres.

There was a tour of the show. It starred Kara Lily Hayworth and toured a couple of times. The latest in 2018. It was based on the 2014 TV musical starring Sheriden Smith

Gotta tell ya, it took me a few minutes to sort this out, let me explain.

I've been complaining for some time that we don't hear love ballads, at least the kind that swoon your spirit. Then outta nowhere, this Chicago radio station plays Cilla Black, and I'm a kid again!
It's amazing what hearing an old song from childhood can do. Suddenly, old friends are back with me, places that were bulldozed years ago exist again for me. A moment relived.

And what a song! Kinda curls ya hair when Cilla hits the chorus!

Btw, this is my first time watching the 1964 Beatles special. I had never known anything about it, until now.
