I recently came across a young man on facebook. He has severe autism. He isn't able to communicate well but he tries his hardest. I first saw a video where his mother told him his teacher was retiring and he wouldn't be able to see her any more. He couldn't understand. He was visible hurt. He'd ask if he'd see her Tuesday, No. Wednesday, No. Thursday, No. It was heartbreaking to watch.

Watching other videos, his joy for the world was overwhelming. He had a wonderful innocent smile and his eyes just sparkled with joy. Some videos he was sad but would brighten up at a mention of his favorite video. His smile was truly heartwarming.

It's so hard to think about simple things that bring you joy when you're down. But seeing this guy really put things in perspective for me.

Have you ever found inspiration for life in a place you haven't expected?

There was this lovely down syndrome teen boy from Norway on the news, doing brilliantly at disabled swimming, medals and everything.

We don't know we're born.

I am inspired whenever people do the decent thing and help others, are honest, or are sacrificial.

Oddly enough, I have often found it in the altruistic acts of animals.
