Hey,

I don't know where to begin, so I'll just jump in.

Since yesterday afternoon (Saturday), I've been feeling very hungry all of a sudden.

No matter what I eat or drink, I feel hungry.

When I was 13, I started skipping breakfast and lunch and only eating once a day. For the last 12 years, that's how I've been eating.

In April, I developed a toe infection and spent 5 months on antibiotics.

In August, I developed a male yeast infection, which I suspected was brought on by the antibiotic use combined with a bad diet (full of sugar) so I decided to change (or at least improve) my eating habits.

For the last month or so, I've been trying to eat 3 meals a day with snacks scheduled every 2 or 3 hours as well as plenty of water. Here is a sample of the diet I've been on:

Breakfast:
1 C of mini wheats with 1 C of 2% milk
1 C of orange juice
1 C coffee with 3 T sugar and Intl. Delight (I know this sounds bad, but I'm not giving that up. I can't drink the coffee without the sugar or cream)
1/2 C of lowfat, live-culture vanilla yogurt
An occasional orange
1 fiber pill (Fiber Choice)

Lunch:
1 slice of toasted whole wheat bread with 4 slices of deli ham and 1 slice of American cheese
1/4 C lightly salted peanuts (They didn't have sunflower seeds so I bought that)
3 C of water
and occasionally, 2 peeled and sliced carrots

Dinner:
2 C of beef stew with carrots and potatoes
3 C of water

Snack:
1 packet of Quaker instant oatmeal (reconstituted with 1/3 C boiling milk)
More water

Late-night snack:
2 peeled and sliced carrots
1/4 C peanuts
More water

If I got hungry after that, I would either choose to eat 1 plain, toasted bagel (They didn't have whole wheat like I wanted) with 1 T of cream cheese or pop 1/4 C kernel popcorn in 1 1/2 T of canola oil, lightly salted

I have no idea if that's remotely healthy, but it's pretty much what I've been eating (at least in terms of breakfast, lunch and snacks since the dinners are usually different and full calorie).

I've also been taking a One-a-Day multivitamin, 2 garlic capsules, and 1 acidophilus pill to help boost my immune system (which was wiped out by the antibiotics).

Anyway, back to the hunger issue:

I've been feeling non-stop hunger since Saturday afternoon no matter what I eat or drink.

I suspect that prior to my new diet my body was in severe starvation mode.

So, I'm wondering if the increased hunger is due to a spike in my metabolism as my body has gotten used to the caloric intake and may just want more now that my body is actually getting food instead of coffee and water like I used to do.

I'm also wondering if I should see a doctor, although in June I had my blood drawn and tested for any abnormalities and I was fine (no high blood sugar levels (Diabetes), anemia, low white blood cell count, etc).

The only other issues I'm having are: severe headaches, stomach rumbling, fatigue and tiredness. These symptoms usually start 1 hour after I eat dinner (around 7 P.M. and can last as long as 4 hours)

These are usually associated with candida overgrowth, which I've been suspecting, but I've had no symptoms of the yeast infection itself (itching, burning, discharge) so I don't know.

I've also wondered if it's Hypoglycemia, but even drinking 1 C of orange juice (that contains sugar anyway) doesn't stop the hunger, so I have no idea what the hell is going on.

I'm sorry if this seems like a long post, but am hoping some of you may have some insight.

Thanks,

strangelittleboy

your breakfast seems very light .. usually if I don't eat much for breakfast I will be super hungry in the evening.

did you count the calories of all that? how much are it?

did your doc also check your thyroid function?

that's all what I can think of about that, maybe someone with a medical background can give your better advise.

I'd add up the calories. Just roughly adding it up I think you may be under 2000 calories. The two snacks are kind of small. Under 2000 calories isn't really enough for an active male.

Yeah a tape worm could be the problem.

Also though you seem to be drinking alot of water which can make people believe they are hungry instead of full, try adding fruit juice to it.

I don't even think it's close to 1,500 calories either. It's hard to count calories for foods if it's something like a stew or soup (unless it's from a can, but always make it from scratch).

Every two days, I do have 3 C of water with the juice of one lemon, which when metabolized, alkalizes your body and raises your pH level so that fungus, bacteria and other parasites can't thrive.

As cliche as it sounds... Tapeworms are not uncommon. Especially because you do eat beef, an egg could have been trapped in the beef and hatched in your digestive system.

This might sound stupid, but: If that's what I had, wouldn't I see them in my stool or something? Plus, I was told on September 9th that I had gained 8 pounds since May. If I had tapeworm at that time or even now, wouldn't I be losing weight?

Where did you come up with that? lol I think you have it backwards. Some times people will eat thinking they are hungry when they are really thirsty.

I drink about the same amount throughout the day.

You can look up calorie counts for veggies and fruits online or buy a cheap book.
