On the Prowl
So earlier this year I had urethral stricture that I needed repaired. I guess it had started a while before that when I felt that I was unable to relieve myself completely. Then I started wetting the bed, still didn't see a doctor. Then December 2013 rolls around and I get a bladder infection that hurt bad. I get a kidney ultrasound after the infection clears that hydro nephrosis (fluid backup into the kidneys). A trip to the urologist and an in office scopy procedure reveals a stricture that could not be open with dilation. Like a week later I'm at the hospital for a day surgery to repair it. I get put under and wake up sleepy , but the pain I'd felt in my lower abdomen where the bladder was backed up was gone. Had a Foley catheter in my penis. That felt really weird. Apparently the stricture was worse then the doctor originally thought so in stead of 3 days with the catheter I got 8. It was so hard to move around with that thing anything that pulled on the catheter hurt or irritated. It hurt to sleep because the bag hung off the side of my bed but it felt like it was constantly tugging. The prescription pain meds did very little for this pain. By the sixth night I ended up sleeping in the chair instead cause was tired of the pain. This was also when my erections returned. Was sleeping and woke to a sharp pain and realized it was because I was getting an erection. The last night I was up basically all night because when I was awake I could control getting an erection a lot better. Let me tell you that thing basically flies out when the doctor removes it. That didn't hurt me but certainly felt weird. Well after 8 days of suffering through all that I could pee strong and actually relieved myself. I had apparently stretched my bladder with this problem for so long the urologist said it may never return to normal so now when I go empty for me is like 100 to 200ml.
So if you have any of those problems :fullness/bloating in the lower abdomen right above the groin, slow stream, straining, high blood pressure, bedwetting, bladder infections, maybe check with your doctor. He only became so concerned with me since men get bladder infections so infrequently that its usually brought on by another problem. Trust me its not fun especially with a catheter but I am sure glad I got it fixed
