Is there a way to get a USB drive to work with Win98SE?

When I plugged it in, it asked for a driver which Win98 doesn't have.

Thanks for the link. I found a huge patch through that page which was supposed to help. It didn't. It's still asking for drivers which can't be found anywhere.

win98 barely supported usb1.0. I don't think Microsoft even offers drivers or support for 98 any longer.

They don't. But my system won't support anything better than Win98 and my wallet won't support a system anything better than what I have.

USB Manufacturers generally will supply the Drivers for Windows 98/9SE.

Not sure about your part of the world tho. Other thing perhaps check out the suppliers website.

Hope it helps

if that doesn't work look on the manufacture's website. USB *does* work with WIN98SE!

YES you can get drivers for your usb drive.

The only problem is that it is a 'found' piece of equipment and it looks like a wrist band when you plug it into itself. There are no manufacturer's names or any other markings on it whatsoever:

If you recognise it, could you suggest a driver for it?

Seriously, get some shitty old laptop that still works and throw Linux on it.

Whenever I hear you writing about your PC I feel like crawling up in a fetal position.

Your camera memory will show up as another drive in MY COMPUTER as will any other removable drive.

That's what I expected to happen, but it didn't. I've downloaded drivers from the link above and tried to install them 6 ways to Sunday and can't get it to work.

I've given up on it.

Thanks for your help, though. I appreciate it.

Some people have disposable income to buy "some shitty old laptop that still works". I'm not one of them.

MS's web page says Win98SE supports USB. Here is how they say to enable it:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/258773/EN-US/

you might need this update if you have an AMD based computer with a VIA USB controller:http://download.microsoft.com/download/win98se/patch/4.10.2223/w98/en-us/240075up.exe

the devise you have looks like a "cool-look" usb wrist drive.
here are some pictures of it: http://www.geekalerts.com/4gb-usb-flash-memory-wristband/

maybe that helps someone else figure out what sort of driver you might need. i'm afraid i don't see a web page for them.

That's the one I downloaded and tried to install with help from the instructions at the same site. The computer finds the flash memory but the drivers refuse to install. (I keep getting messages that the drivers can't be found.)

No matter how I tried to install the drivers, they wouldn't install.

Thanks again, but, like I said, I've given up on it.
