Are some of the books really .01 - 5.00 like they listed them on Amazon?

I want to buy some books but I just don't know?

I have no idea since I've never bought a book on Amazon, but there's most likely a shipping charge that you need to add in.

There IS a shipping charge for books on Amazon. I believe it's in the $3-$4 range. I've gotten a few used books through Amazon, and never had any problem. Some suggestions: READ THE SELLER'S DESCRIPTION. ALL THE WAY THROUGH. And stick with sellers with at least 250 feedback ratings, and with at least 97% positive feedback.

Yes they are. I bought 2 books and one cost 1 cent. they make up for the low price with shipping, it's usually not that much though.

I bought a couple of Hawaii travel guides on Amazon for dirt cheap. They were "slightly used", but didnt have anything I could find wrong with them. Even if they had a couple of marks, it sure beat the "new" price at the book store. Just be sure to read the sellers remarks about what might be wrong with them.

I've had good luck with buying used books from Amazon. I ordered The Watcher's Guide To Buffy The Vampire Slayer Volume 2 a while back for a penny. A freakin' PENNY! With shipping, it wound up costing me about 3 dollars. The book was in near perfect condition, except for a little inventory number written on the front. Not too bad, though. I did just order the biography on Mark Bingham used yesterday for 5 dollars. I have it checked out from the library, and it is a WONDERFUL book, which is why I bought it.

Is the shipping for the whole order or for each book that you have in your cart???

It's for each book, so it's better to look for books from the same seller so you can save on shipping.

Yeah i ordered the last harry potter used on amazon and it was really cheap..there was a shipping cost but it was still cheaper than buying it new.. I think its really only worth it when your buying a hard back though.. And i was really pleasantly surprised by the condition too

Looks like the charge is $4 per book. And on Amazon, that will be for EACH book you buy, even if you're buying from the same seller. So mentally add $4 to the cost of each item as you see it, to see if it's a good buy.

You might also try half.com. Their prices are often cheaper. Same rules apply - look for good feedback and lots of it, and check on the shipping charge before you finalize the order.

I've bought .01 books before through Amazon. As everyone has said the shipping is still $3 to $4 but that's a great deal for some of the texts I've had to buy. Just follow the advice of the previous poster who said to check out the seller reviews and comments. That should steer you away from any shady deals.

Amazon.com is cool for making book purchases........

........recently a used book I purchased from an Amazon.com vendor never arrived (the vendor shipped it via US Mail)........

........I contacted the vendor and the vendor shipped another copy via United Parcel (go Brown) for no additional cost to me........
