"Here I Stand" represents, to many involved in the project, a portrait of the artist as a grown man. This transition is reflected in songs like the soaring Tricky Stewart-produced ballad "Moving Mountains" and the disco-esque dance cut "This Ain't Sex." Another Stewart track, "His Mistake," finds Usher being blamed for another man's follies ("Always guilty before the sin/I can't win"), and on the Dre & Vidal-crafted title track, the singer channels Stevie Wonder.

This time, again, Usher's game plan is simple: Tell a story. "The premise of my story is, 'You truly aren't a king until you really find your queen,' and I felt like I found someone who's the foundation for my life," he says. "I married her and had a child with her, so that's going to definitely raise a lot of eyebrows, but I don't really listen to the negativity. I hear it, but at the same time this is my story and you can't tear it down if I don't let you."

"Here I Stand," hits stores May 27 via Jive.

psssh, Love In this Club was awful.

hope this has some better songs...

^^^ I LOVE "Love In This Club"!!

Great first single. Can't wait to actually buy this album (even though you KNOW he's going to re-release it later this year like Confessions lol....)

USHER scores second best sales debut of '08

Four years after his "Confessions" rocked the charts, Usher returns to the Billboard 200 at No. 1 with "Here I Stand." With 433,000 U.S. copies sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan, the LaFace/Zomba album is the second biggest debut this year behind the 463,000 start of Mariah Carey's "E=MC2."

lol @ the first week sales....

what a tragedy.

but its no suprise cuz the first single choice for LITC was awful.

i havent listened to the whole album but i think he has some decent songs. however i think this is his worst effort. i dont feel the direction he is going in.

i think his last 3 albums were great & i think his voice has gotten progressively stronger, but i think the songs have gotten worse. i love the my way & 8701 songs, confession songs were good to but will never compare imo. here i stand feels the same way to me except worse.

His music has always been middle-of-the-road for me. I can't think of 1 Usher song that I REALLY like.
