Where did you hear this about it only being picked up for 13 episodes?

i've only seen one epsiode frome last season...i believe Jonathan Taylor Thomas was in it...but i've heard good things from people so i decided to watch tonight after Gilmore Girls...it was pretty good...it's a fun show.

It doesn't bother me so much but why isn't the show shown in Widescreen anymore? Im a big fan of that format, whether it be movies or tv shows and it kinda bummed me out.

Anyone else notice that.

And even though I'd seen the premiere on the internet a week ago I must say I'm bummed that Kendall might not be on the show much longer.

I'm pretty sure it's still shot in widescreen. It would only be broadcast in widescreen if you have HDTV. It probably wasn't webcasted in widescreen on msn.com because most people still have 4:3 monitors.

But I also saw it on tv, and besides my computer has a WIDESCREEN screen. Apart from all the other small changes this is definitely one of the things I will be missing. The show was always in widescreen before.

Odd. I've never actually seen VM on TV since I can't get the CW in Canada. I download it and it's always widescreen since it's in HD. Maybe yours isn't because you're watching a former WB station now instead of a former UPN station? Maybe it's something to do with the CW merger. I did pick up VM once over an antenna. It was really blurry since it was picking up the signal from 100km away, but it was in full screen.

That's what I thought. Maybe The CW wanted it to be FULLSCREEN. Is it more expensive to produce a show with the bars on either the top and bottom?

I think the 13 episode thing is just a trial. If VM does decently enough by sweeps period, then it can be renewed for a full 22 episode season. If it doesn't, then it can end with a short season and CW can cut its losses. I'm really crossing my fingers that VM boosts its ratings on the CW (especially with it being right after GG, which I watch and is a strong lead in). But after watching tonight's premiere, I'm afraid that it's not newbie friendly, and a lot of casual viewers might have been lost (no recap of Beaver being the killer, very little background on Dick being his step brother or Mac being his girlfriend or Kendall being his stepmom, little explanation of last season's cliffhanger of why Keith helped Kendall's "friend" out of jail to find her, etc.).

Anyway, after just finishing up VM season 2 on DVD the night before, I was really excited about finally being able to watch a full season when it actually airs. So far, I'm really liking it and it's cool to see new faces (Wallace's roommate is cute). And finally, Mac is a full time cast member and as much as I hate Lamb, I think he's hot and I'm glad he's full time too. I'm only a little worried about the college setting and that VM will take a dip like Buffy did when they went to college. I already kind of miss Neptune High.

And the theme song -- I love "We Used to be Friends" and they remixed it, so now it's awful. Like ANTM, just because you change networks, it doesn't mean you have to tamper with 2 of my favorite TV theme songs!

I would think that it would actually be easier for them to show it in widescreen since no cropping is required. The show is shot in widescreen (since the HDTV spec requires that) so it's actually more work to do the pan and scan to make it a fullscreen show. But most people watching analogue TV have 4:3 screens while almost everyone watching HDTV has 16:9 screens so that's probably why the NTSC broadcast is fullscreen while the HDTV broadcast is widescreen.

I'm going to make a premature prediction and say that the safe-rides people are the "rapists"/head shavers. Well, maybe they don't necessarily rape the girls, but they shave their heads and set them up for the rapes. That ultra-feminist driver seemed to have a major thing against sorority girls and the clean-cut male driver who drove Parker to her dorm was highly suspicious.

Anyway, does anyone else feel like the major plot arc this season (or what I'm guessing is the major plot arc) pales in comparison to the last 2 seasons? Date rape is a serious issue, but it doesn't quite have the effect of a high-profile murder or an exploding bus full of children.

What happened to Piz? He disappeared after one episode. Logan looks like he's getting softer, which I'm not sure if that' s a good thing or a bad thing. And where's Weevil?

Did anybody notice the guest apperances this episode? Sean from Boy Meets World and Homer Simpson himself. I tuned into KROQ this morning and Kristen Bell revealed in her interview that Richard Grieco, Laura San Giacomo and Ed Begley Jr. (who plays the dean in the next episode) all make appearances this season. Looks good.

Concerning the Plot Arc, this season will have 3 separate ones, not one big one (bus crash, lilly kane) like previous seasons.
