I was watching this yesterday on VH1 and they listed Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit the #1 song of the 90s. I was wondering what you all would say what the #1 90s song was. I personally agree with their choice as I am still a huge Nirvana fan.

yeah, i agree with their choice, cuz i cant think of any other song that had such an impact on Music during the 90s.

I didn't really start listening to any music until I was in 8th grade, but I remember TLC's Waterfalls being real popular when it came out because of the whole AIDS awareness and practicing safe sex, everywhere you went you'd hear "dont go chasing waterfalls please stick to the rivers and the lakes that you're used, I know that you're gonna have it your way or nothing at all but I think you're moving too fast......" haha haven't heard this one in awhile

I'm not saying TLC is better than Nirvana or anything, just that Waterfalls is one that I remember and it sent out a good message, and omg Lauryn Hill,'Killing Me Softly' with the Fugees. luaryn Hill was bad ass back then, haven't heard anything about her lately though, I've been thinking of Sister Act 2 when she sings that 'Eye of a Sparrow' church song, and she sang it beautifully,

I'm not a huge fan of Nirvana, but I do recognize the fact that they changed the face of music during the 90's.

i like a couple Nirvana songs, "All Apologies" is one of my favorites. i do remember when Teen Spirit came out it, just really caught on...like EVERYBODY was singing that shit. people you'd think wouldn't be caught dead even acknowledging that type of music were running around singing it.

I think it was the best choice and I knew it from the start its a good song and very iconic. If I remember right there was no Smashing Pumpkins right? that confused me and Lisa Loebs song should have been higher. It was nice to see my home girl Liz Phair get a mention considering she never had a radio hit.
